VAV 브이에이브이 debutaba en Octubre de 2015 bajo la compañía AQ Entertainment, ahora conocida como A Team Entertainment. Tras varios cambios en el grupo, ahora promocionan como un grupo de siete integrantes y se han convertido en uno de los grupos de K-POP más queridos en España.

En dos ocasiones les hemos podido ver en concierto en Madrid, con su gira Spotlight y con el tour Señorita, protagonizando la lista de conciertos de K-POP en Europa durante dos años seguidos.

En el repaso a la trayectoria de VAV hasta Spotlight, encontramos un sinfín de trabajos llenos de energía y con diferentes conceptos que han enamorado a sus VAMPZ –fandom del grupo-. VAV vive ahora uno de sus mejores momentos tras el lanzamiento de Thrilla Killa, su cuarto mini álbum que llega precedido del éxito más latino que han tenido hasta el momento, Señorita de VAV.

En BA NA NA hemos podido hablar con VAV sobre su trayectoria, sus próximos proyectos y las sensaciones que han tenido en estos cuatro años de trayectoria.

Dentro de muy poco se van a cumplir 4 años desde vuestro debut. ¿Cómo ha sido este camino? ¿Destacaríais algún momento en particular? 

Ziu: Como soy un integrante bastante nuevo del grupo, junto con Ayno y Lou, todavía recuerdo claramente el día en que conocí a todo el grupo.

St. Van: Para mí, 'Venus' fue la época más memorable. Fue nuestro primer álbum desde que Ayno, Lou y Ziu se unieron al grupo, y creo que fue un periodo muy especial para todos.

It's going to be 4 years since your debut very soon, how has this long road been? Do you highlight any particular moment? 

Ziu: Since I’m a rather new member of the group, along with Ayno and Lou, I still remember clearly the day I met the whole group! 

St. Van: For me, ‘Venus’ was the most memorable. It was our first album since Ayno, Lou and Ziu joined the group, and I think it was a very special period for all.

De todas las canciones que VAV ha lanzado hasta ahora, ¿cuál es vuestra favorita o con cuál os sentís más conectados?

Ziu: Me encantan todas nuestras canciones y álbumes, pero como 'Venus' fue la primera canción después de que me uní al grupo, ¡es la más especial para mí!

St. Van: Personalmente considero a 'Senorita' como la más especial. Fue la primera canción en llegar a 20M y, por supuesto, aunque la preparación de todos los álbumes fue agradable, realmente disfruté preparando y practicando 'Señorita'.

Of all the songs VAV has released so far, which one is your favourite or which one do you feel most connected to?

Ziu: I love all our songs and albums, but since ‘Venus’ was the first song after I joined the group, it does come as the most special to me!

St. Van: I personally consider ‘Senorita’ as the most special. It was the first song to hit 20M views and, of course although preparing for all albums were enjoyable, I really enjoyed preparing and practicing ‘Senorita’.

VAV acaba de volver con Thrilla Killa, ¿podéis contarnos sobre esta nueva canción, su concepto y esta era?

Ayno: 'THRILLA KILLA' habla sobre una persona seductora pero peligrosa que cautiva y no se va. Por lo tanto, usamos un traje, un candado con llave y cinturones como accesorios clave para el concepto. Definitivamente también tomamos otra dirección del álbum anterior, ya que enfatizamos nuestra masculinidad y el lado sexy de 'homme fatal' del grupo.

BaRon: En primer lugar, el título'THRILLA KILLA' se refiere a una persona con un encanto peligrosamente cautivador. Es una nueva canción de pop retro, reinterpretando una melodía retro de los 80's en un estilo pop moderno.

VAV has made comeback with Thrilla Killa, Can you tell us about this new song, concept and era?

Ayno: ‘THRILLA KILLA’ signifies a seductive yet dangerous person who captivates and won’t let go. Therefore, we wore a suit, a lock (key lock), and belts, as key point accessories for the concept. We also definitely took another direction from the previous album, as we emphasized our masculinity and the ‘homme fatal’ sexy side of the group.

BaRon: Firstly, the title ‘THRILLA KILLA’ signifies a person with dangerously captivating charm. It’s a new retro pop song, reinterpreting a 80’s retro melody into a modern pop style.

2019 acaba de comenzar, y lo habéis hecho con un gran comeback. ¿Qué podemos esperar de VAV el resto del año?

Ziu: En primer lugar, realizaremos la gira norteamericana a partir de finales de abril. Luego, en mayo, participaremos en KCON, con la esperanza de conocer a más de nuestros fans. Planeamos crear otras oportunidades para conocer a los fans y mostrar más de nosotros.

Ace: Nos vamos a centrar en 'THRILLA KILLA' en este momento y luego la próxima gira y todos nuestros conciertos. Esperamos que esto nos permita conocer a más fans que viven en el extranjero. Trabajaremos duro para producir nuevos álbumes para que nuestros fans no tengan que esperar demasiado para volver.

2019 has just started, and you've begun it with a great comeback. What can we expect from VAV in the rest of the year?

Ziu: Firstly, we will be holding the North American Tour starting on the end of April. Then in May, we will participate in KCON, hopefully meeting more of our fans! We plan to create other opportunities to meet fans and show more of us!

Ace: We will focus on ‘THRILLA KILLA’ at the moment and will then go through the upcoming tour and concert schedule. Hopefully, this will allow us to meet more of our fans who live abroad. We’ll work hard to produce new albums so that our fans won’t have to wait too long for our comeback.

El grupo ya ha trabajado con diferentes estilos de música; ¿hay alguno que aún no hayáis probado que realmente os apetezca hacerlo?

Ace: Nuestro ultimo lanzamiento 'THRILLA KILLA' es una canción retro con un ritmo poderoso, así que nos gustaría intentar lo contrario para nuestra próxima canción. Nos gustaría probar una canción más suave que realmente pueda sacar lo mejor de la dulce voz de nuestros integrantes.

The group has already worked with different music styles; is there any music style you haven't tried yet that you really want to give it a go?

Ace: Our newest release ‘THRILLA KILLA’ is a new retro song with a powerful beat, so we’d like to try the opposite for our next song. We’d like to try a softer song that can really pull out the best in our members’ sweet voice.

Durante vuestro show case de Thrilla Killa enseñasteis un power point para introducir a VAV y mostrar vuestros encantos. Pero si tuvieras que describir a VAV con una palabra, ¿cuál sería y por qué?

Ziu: Para describir VAV con una palabra, yo elegiría camaleón. VAV es un grupo que puede transformarse y mostrar diferentes colores, estilos y géneros, ¡como un camaleón!

Ace: Si tuviera que elegir un color que exprese VAV, diría "negro", por el peso y la intensidad de este color específico. Todos los integrantes de VAV tienen un buen físico y una imagen masculina, que creo que concuerda con el color "negro".

Lou: Es tan difícil encontrar una palabra para identificar a VAV. Yo diría que ‘pájaro de 8 colores’ es la que más se adapta, ya que VAV tiene una variedad de encantos. Espero que disfrutéis de nuestras canciones y actuaciones más adelante.

During your Thrilla Killa show case you prepared a power point to introduce VAV and show your diverse charms. But if you had to describe VAV with a word, which would it be and why?

Ziu: To describe VAV with one word, I’d choose ‘chameleon’! VAV is a group that can transform and and show different colours, style and genre wise, like a chameleon!

Ace: If I had to choose a colour expressing VAV, I would say ‘black’. There’s the weight and intensity this specific colour gives out. All members of VAV have a rather good physic and a masculine image, which I think, match up to the colour ‘black’.

Lou: It’s so hard to find one word to express VAV~ I would say ‘bird with 8 colors’ suits the most, since VAV has a variety of charmsI hope you will enjoy our songs and performances further on.

Esta es la primera vez que Ayno incluye su canción en los álbumes. Touch U da una sensación muy buena y a los fans les encanta. Anyo, ¿qué te inspiró para escribir este tema?

Ayno: Quería escribir una canción divertida y emocionante con la que nuestros fans pudieran disfrutar y conectarme con ellos durante la actuación. Comencé con el ritmo y luego con la melodía que se convirtió en la canción 'Touch You'. Imaginar a nuestros fans disfrutando durante la actuación me emociona. Y me gustaría añadir que he empezado el ‘Touch You Challenge’ en los medios sociales, y tenía miedo de que nadie lo continuara. Pero, afortunadamente, muchos de nuestros fans han estado publicando su versión y estoy disfrutando mucho viéndolos. Muchísimas gracias. Espero que escuchéis la canción más a menudo en el futuro.

This is the first time that Ayno got his song on the albums. Touch U has a really good vibe and fans love it. What inspired Ayno to write this track?

Ayno: I wanted to write a fun, exciting song to which our fans could enjoy it and I could connect with them during the performance. I starting with the beat and then the melody which became the song ‘Touch You’. Just imagining our fans and I enjoying it during the performance makes me excited. And I’d like to add that I’ve started a Touch You Challenge on social media, and I was scared no one would continue it. But thankfully a lot of our fans have been posting their version and I’m really enjoying watching them. Thank you so much. Hope you will listen to the song more often in the future.

Producir y componer es un proceso muy duro, sobre todo si lo hacéis al mismo tiempo que las promociones, ¿cuál es la parte más complicada de componer canciones? ¿Qué es lo que más os gusta de este proceso?

St. Van: Terminar ‘I’m sorry’ llevó unos 6 meses. Tuve que pasar por un círculo de escribir el ritmo, la melodía, la canción, luego borrarla y reescribirla una y otra vez incontables veces. Lo mismo que cuando estábamos promocionando 'Senorita', pero incluso ahora hemos estado de gira en el extranjero, lo que no me permitió mucho tiempo, así que he tenido que trabajar noches enteras en el estudio después de terminar todos los horarios. Componer y completar una canción es un proceso realmente duro, pero cuando pienso en cantarla en el escenario con nuestros integrantes a nuestros fans, todos los malos recuerdos que vienen del proceso se desvanecen. Así que trabajaré más duro en las siguientes canción.

Ayno: La parte difícil sería que sólo tengo tiempo después de terminar los horarios, así que normalmente tengo que empezar a trabajar en una canción al amanecer y continuar toda la noche. Sobre todo cuando estamos promocionando un nuevo trabajo, que tengo que encontrar tiempo entre horarios, así que no puedo permitirme el lujo de dormir tanto. Pero a decir verdad, la felicidad y la satisfacción de ver que a los fans les gusta mi música y disfrutan de ella durante las actuaciones, no me parece que el proceso sea difícil en absoluto.

Producing and composing is a really hard process, especially if you are doing it at the same time of promotions. What is the most complicated part of composing songs? What do you like most about the process?

St. Van: Completing ‘I’m Sorry’ took about 6 months. I had to go through a circle of writing the beat, melody, song then erasing it and rewriting it all over again countless times. It was the same for when we were promoting ‘Senorita’, but even recently we’ve been on tours abroad, which didn’t allow me a lot of time, so I had to work all night in the studio after finishing all the schedules. Composing and completing a song is truly a hard process, but when I think of singing it on stage with our members to our fans, all bad memories coming from the process just fade away. So I will work harder on the next and the next song.

Ayno: The hard part would be that I only have time after finishing the schedules, so I would have to start working on a song at dawn and continue all night. Particularly when we’re promoting a new release, I’d have to find time between schedules, so I can’t afford to sleep that much. But to tell the truth, the happiness and satisfaction coming from seeing fans like my music and enjoy it during performances, I don’t find the process hard at all~

Ahora mismo estás en medio de promociones para este nuevo regreso y muy pronto viajaréis a Estados Unidos para la gira americana justo después de la gira por Sudamérica. Habiendo visitado tantos países en tan poco tiempo, ¿qué es lo que más os sorprende?

BaRon: Lo que más agradezco es que todos hayan disfrutado de nuestros conciertos sin accidentes. El éxito y la seguridad de nuestras actuaciones han sido posibles gracias a nuestros fans, ya que todos ellos mantienen el orden y tienen buenos modales. Por eso pudimos actuar sin preocupaciones. Estoy agradecido todo el tiempo a nuestros fans.

Lou: Me sorprende que en cualquier país al que vayamos de gira, haya fans que nos quieran. Siempre me sorprende y agradezco cuando veo a los fans que disfrutan de nuestras actuaciones y cantan con nosotros.

Right now you're in the middle of promotions for this new comeback and soon enough you will be heading towards USA for your American tour right after coming from your South America tour. Having visited so many countries in so little time, what's the thing you are most amazed about?

BaRon: The thing I feel most thankful for is that everyone enjoyed our stage without any accidents. I would give credit, for the success and safety of our performances, to our fans as they were all keeping in order and have great manners. That’s why we were able to perform without worrying. I am thankfull all the time to our fans.

Lou: I’m just surprised that to whatever country we go on tour, there are fans who love us. I’m always amazed and thankful when I see fans who enjoy our performances and sing along.

Muchos fans sienten curiosidad por saber más sobre esto, pero ¿cuáles son vuestros planes después de que termine la gira americana? ¿Qué os gustaría hacer después de terminar las actividades programadas por ahora?

Lou: Mi plan y deseo, después de la gira norteamericana, es prepararme para nuestro próximo regreso. No puedo esperar a mostrar a nuestros fans otro nuevo y genial lado de VAV.

Ayno: Me encantaría organizar diversos eventos con los fans, y seguir escribiendo nuevas canciones a cambio del amor de nuestros fans.

A lot of fans are curious about this, but what are your plans after the American tour finish? What would you want to do after finishing your schedule?

Lou: My plan and wish, after the North American Tour, is to prepare for our next comeback. I can’t wait to show our fans another new and cool side of VAV.

Ayno: I’d love to hold/host diverse events with fans, and continue with writing new songs in return for the love of our fans.

VAV has visited a lot of countries in the last year, is there any country you haven't gone yet but you definitely want to go?

Ziu: I just want to go anywhere VAMPZ are. I’m being really honest here.

Lou: There are a lot of countries we haven’t been to yet. If the opportunity comes, I would love to go to all over the world, but I would like to start by closer countries in South-East Asia

Sin embargo, habéis visitado España dos veces en 2018 con el Tour Spotlight y el Tour Señorita. ¿Qué fue lo que más os gustó de España en vuestras visitas? ¿Pudisteis de los encantos de Madrid?

Ziu: Me sentí muy feliz y agradecido por todo el ánimo de VAMPZ. El paisaje era exquisito, la comida era deliciosa, especialmente las gambas!

Lou: España es un país que lo tiene todo. La gente es cálida, el paisaje, el clima y la comida son maravillosos. Siempre vuelvo de España con grandes recuerdos del país y de las actuaciones, así que siempre estoy emocionado por volver.

However, you visited Spain twice in 2018 with the Spotlight Tour and the Señorita Tour. What did you like most about Spain on your visits? Were you able to enjoy the charms of Madrid?

Ziu: I was so happy and thankful for all the cheering sounds from VAMPZ. The scenery was exquisite, the food was delicious, especially the gambas!

Lou: Spain is a country that has everything. The people are warm, the scenery, the weather and the food are wonderful. I always come back from Spain with great memories from the country itself and performances so I’m always excited to go back.

Vuestra relación con VAMPZ es tan importante que tenéis vuestra propia aplicación para manteneros en contacto con ellos. ¿Hay algo que vuestros fans hayan hecho que os haya sorprendido?

BaRon: Tenemos nuestra propia aplicación, y como es una plataforma en línea, normalmente nos comunicamos a través de comentarios. Pero considero que es un gran regalo de los fans porque cuando estamos en línea podemos jugar y conversar mucho!

Your relationship with VAMPZ is so important that you have your own app to keep in touch with them. Is there anything your fans have done for you that has surprised you?

BaRon: We do have our own app, and since it’s an online platform, we usually communicate through comments. But I consider this to be a great gift from fans cause when we’re online we can play games and converse a lot!

¿Podéis mandar un mensaje a vuestros fans españoles?

Ziu: Me encantaría volver cuando se presente la oportunidad ㅠㅜㅠ Los extraño y los quiero mucho.

Can you send a message to your Spanish fans?

Ziu: I’d really love to go back when the opportunity comes ㅠㅜㅠ I miss and love you all so much.
