El pasado mes de diciembre de 2022 GMMTV presentaba una de sus últimas series de la temporada: Never Let Me Go, serie en la que hemos podido descubrir la química de Pond Naravit y Phuwin Tangsakyuen como protagonistas.
Never Let Me Go nos ha conquistado gracias a su gran historia, en la que nos sumergen en una trama peligrosa pero llena de romance. Nuengdiao se ve obligado a heredar los negocios familiares luego del asesinato de su padre. Sin embargo esto pone al joven en una posición muy peligrosa, por eso Palm entra en su vida con el propósito de mantenerlo alejado de todo peligro... pero acaban enamorándose.

La historia de “Never Let Me Go” es un poco diferente a otras series de GMMTV o vuestro anterior trabajo. ¿Qué diríais que hace “Never Let Me Go” especial y por qué la recomendaríais?
Pond: Para mí, la razón por la que creo que esta serie es diferente a otras es que la historia de amor entre los personajes de esta serie es diferente a cualquier otra historia BL, ya que es el tipo de historia de amor entre un superior y un subordinado. Y aunque sigue estando ambientada en la escuela secundaria hay una nueva historia en términos de conflicto. Mucha gente quizás piense que es como una serie escolar con una linda historia de amor, pero en realidad no lo es. Hay varios conflictos y mucha tensión a lo largo de la serie, sin embargo, solo tenéis que esperar y ver.

The story of “Never Let Me Go” is quite different from other GMMTV series or your previous work. What would you say that makes “Never Let Me Go” special and why would you recommend it?Pond: For me, the reason why I think this series is different from others is that the love story between the characters in this series is unlike any other BL stories as it is the kind of love story between a master and a subordinate. And although it's still setting in high school but there’s the new storyline in terms of conflict. Many people might think that it's like a high school series with a cute love story, but it is not actually. There are various conflicts and quite a lot of tension going on along the series, however, you just have to wait and see.Phuwin: I feel like one of the most important things in this series is the plot. The plot is very different from many other series in this genre, and I feel like we develop into the relationships between Palm and Nuengdiao. You bring Palm and Nuengdiao to life, two characters with very different backgrounds. What would you say that is the more charming point of your character?Pond: As for me, I'd say that the Palm character is really charming. I am not saying that because it’s my character. In the early eps, Palm meets Nuengdiao who is his young master, so it is normal for the character that he has to behave and act professionally as Nuengdiao is his boss. There is no way that he can cross the line and show his feeling or how he feels with his boss beyond his duty. But in the latter eps, their relationship has developed and begun to love each other. It is Palm's duty to go to the sea with Nuengdiao to protect him, spending time at the sea together, their relationship has grown further. There is absolutely no one in this world would do anything for anyone like Palm would do for Nuengdiao and I am sure the audience will see his charm during these scenes.Phuwin: As for me the most charming things about my character is how much he cares about the people around him, and his attention to detail. The caring he has and the willingness that he has to take care of other people are really strong points. ¿Cómo os preparasteis para interpretar a vuestros personajes en “Never Let Me Go”? ¿Os enfrentasteis a algún reto trabajando en ello?
Pond: ¡Oh, muchos retos! Esta es la segunda serie en la que interpreto a uno de los personajes principales, la primera fue en Fish Upon the Sky que fue una linda historia de amor. Mi personaje en Fish Upon the Sky quizás no era tan animado o tenía una historia como mi personaje (Palm), era un personaje guapo, calmado y fresco, lo cual es muy diferente al personaje de Palm en Never Let Me Go, ya que hay un trasfondo y una historia de vida en el personaje de Palm. Esto es bastante desafiante porque necesito hacer mucha preparación para aprender sobre este personaje, y así la audiencia pueda ver que puedo actuar perfectamente en este personaje.

How did you prepare to bring your characters to life in “Never Let Me Go”? Did you face any challenge working on it?Pond: Oh, so many challenges! This is the second series that I played as one of the main characters, the first one was in Fish Upon the Sky which was a cute love story. My character in Fish Upon the Sky might not be as lively or having a life story as my character was a very handsome, calm, and cool guy, which is very different in Palm’s character in Never Let Me Go as there is a background and life story in Palm’s character. This is quite challenging because I need to do a lot of homework to learn about this character, so the audience can see that I can perfectly act on this character.Phuwin: The method of preparation is to focus a lot on the script and to gain a deep understanding of the character. So, this means going through the script and going through workshops, trying to get myself immersed in the character and get into the way that the character feels and the character thinks. Ya habíais trabajado juntos en “Fish Upon the Sky” y ahora podemos veros de nuevo en “Never Let Me Go”. ¿Cómo ha sido la evolución y experiencia como actores trabajando juntos en estos proyectos?
Pond: Quería demostrarle a la audiencia que, aunque esta es nuestra segunda historia, nuestra serie tenía que ser diferente a la primera. Siempre he intentado pensar que es posible que no hayamos actuado muy bien todavía o que no tengamos mucha experiencia en la actuación aún, pero me gustaría demostrarle a la gente que no somos actores sin talento. Quiero que la gente vea que, aunque todavía no somos tan buenos, definitivamente queremos que vean que hemos estado mejorando y nos desempeñamos mejor que en nuestra primera serie.
Phuwin: Y mucho más que eso, creo que una de las cosas que ha evolucionado es la relación entre nosotros dos. Nos hemos vuelto mucho más cercanos. Nos conocemos mucho mejor. Y creo que con esto en mente, hace que nuestra actuación sea mucho mejor, nuestra química es mucho mejor y nos conocemos lo suficientemente bien.
You already worked together in “Fish Upon the Sky” and now we can see you again in “Never Let Me Go”. How has been the evolution and experience as actors working together on these projects?Pond: I wanted to prove to the audience that even though this is our second story, our show has to be different from the first one. I have always tried to think that we may not have performed very good yet, or we may not have many acting experiences yet, but I would like to prove to people that we are not the actors with no talent. I want people to see that even though we're not that good yet, we definitely want them to see that we have been improving and performed better than our first series.Phuwin: And much more than that, I think that one of the things that has evolved is the relationship between us two. We have become much closer. We know each other a lot better. ¿Trabajar juntos de nuevo ha hecho las grabaciones más fáciles? ¿Tenéis alguna anécdota o momento memorable de las grabaciones?
Pond: Para mí, creo que es muy fácil. Para escenas románticas o escenas en las que nos amamos nos sintonizamos muy rápidamente. Pero el desafío es más sobre el drama/género, ya que es relativamente nuevo para nosotros. Tenemos que sintonizar a nuestros personajes, lo cual fue difícil cuando se grabó la primera toma, pero para todas las escenas que interpretamos juntos es fácil y rápido de grabar.
Para mí el mejor recuerdo del rodaje son los momentos que pasamos juntos. Aunque todos estaban cansados, siguieron esforzándose. Disfruto pasar tiempo con el equipo y Phuwin. Sí, este es mi momento más memorable.
Phuwin: Estoy de acuerdo con él. Creo que una vez que conoces a alguien lo suficientemente bien ya sabes cómo piensa, cómo actúa, como si no tuvieras que decir nada, solo lo miras a los ojos y ya sabes lo que piensa. Entonces, diría que es muy fácil trabajar con él, me hace sentir muy cómodo y feliz de trabajar con él de nuevo.
En cuanto a los momentos memorables, creo que uno de los momentos más memorables para mí es cuando tuvimos una escena íntima juntos y realmente no hablamos nada al respecto. Realmente no tuvimos que hablar entre nosotros, solo nos miramos y dijimos, está bien, sabemos qué hacer y no tuvimos que comunicar nada a través del habla. Simplemente lo hicimos. Y pudimos hacerlo en unas pocas tomas, como una o dos, cuando generalmente cuando grabamos una escena lo hacemos en tres o cuatro intentos. Lo hicimos una vez y al director ya le gustó mucho. Did working together again make the recording easier? Do you have any anecdote or memorable moments from the filming?Pond: For me, I think it's very easy. For romantic scenes or scenes that we love each other, we tuned in to each other very quickly. But the challenge is more about drama/genre as it is relatively new to us. We have to tune in our characters which was difficult when the first queue was taken, but for all scenes that we played together, it is easy and quick to film.For me, the best memory of filming are the times we spent together. Although everyone was tired, they kept on fighting. I enjoy spending time with the team and Phuwin. Yes, this is my most memorable moment.Phuwin: I agree with him. I think that once you know someone already well enough, you already know how they think, how they act, like you don’t have to say anything, and you just look into their eyes, and you would already know what they think. So, I would say that it's very easy to work with him and it makes me really comfortable and really happy to work with him again.As for memorable moments. I think one of the most memorable moments for me is that when we had an intimate scene together and we didn't really speak anything about it. We didn't really have talk to each other about it, we just looked at each other and we're like, OK, we know what to do and we didn't really have to communicate anything through speech. We just did it. And we were able to do it in like a few takes only, like one or two, when usually when we take a scene, we usually get 4. Three to four tries. We did like once, and the director already really liked it. And yeah, and that was it. I really like singing. In the beginning, after I knew that I had to sing it in the OST for this, I was really excited. And we also got one of the top songwriters in our country, P’ Amp, to work with us. And yeah, it was a really, really interesting experience. Pond: Para mí, siento que es un desafío porque la serie que voy a interpretar, Loneliness Society, es un género diferente. Es una especie de comedia, como un rom-com. Tengo un personaje diferente con el papel de un chico más joven en esta serie. In “DIVERSELY YOURS,”, the conference of GMMTV for 2023 projects, we can see you in new series. How do you feel about this new challenges?Pond: For me, I feel that it is challenging because the series that I am going to play, Loneliness Society, is a different genre. En el futuro, ¿qué clase de personaje os gustaría interpretar en una serie o película?
Pond: Quiero interpretar el rol de un jefe de la mafia japonesa. Quiero actuar junto a Dunk Natachai porque somos amigos. Quiero probar a interpretar dos mafias que tienen un conflicto, pero no muy dramático. Quiero tener un poco de acción, acción de la mafia, pero no muy dramática.
Phuwin: El personaje que me gustaría interpretar en una futura película es probablemente en el género romántico donde no he podido tener la oportunidad de experimentarlo. I stopped playing Bass when I was in 10th or 11th grade, but I'm sure that I still have some skill. I've dabbled in a bit of streaming before, but that wasn't much. El 2022 está a punto de acabar y daremos la bienvenida a 2023. ¿Tenéis algunas metas o sueños que os gustaría cumplir este nuevo año?
Pond: Para el próximo 2023 tengo muchas metas en cuanto al trabajo. Pero la parte más importante es que este año no he tenido buena salud, puede que sea por la falta de sueño y ponerme enfermo a menudo porque quizás trabajamos mucho. Siento que no me cuido a mí mismo lo suficiente, también estoy estresado. Así que el año que viene quiero cuidar mejor de mí mismo y de mi salud. Y más importante, quiero que nuestros compañeros también cuiden de su salud porque ellos trabajan muy duro. Deseo que el próximo año sea el año para nosotros dos, con mucho trabajo. Y entre más me meto en las escenas en las que tengo que hablar en mandarín, más me doy cuenta de que he perdido mucho dominio del idioma y creo que realmente quiero recuperarlo. 2022 is about to end and we will welcome 2023. Do you have any goals or dreams that you want to fulfill this new year?Pond: For the upcoming 2023, I have many goals in terms of work. But the most important thing is that this year I am not in good health, perhaps because the lack of sleep and getting sick often because we may work a lot. I feel like I don't take care of myself that much, I'm also stressed. So, next year I want to take better care of myself and my health. And most importantly, I want our partners to take care of their health as well because they work very hard. I wish next year will be the year of the two of us, with a lot of work. The country is open now, so, I hope we will have an opportunity to meet our international fans who are waiting for us.Phuwin: Yes, for 2023, I think that I want to better myself as a person. I want to improve my skills in both acting and many other different skilled sets that I have right now, most particularly in a language as in Never Let Me Go, we speak a lot of Mandarin, right? And the more I go into scenes where I have to speak Mandarin, the more I realize that I have lost a lot of proficiency in the language, and I think that I really want to regain that.
