El gran artista en solitario Gaho 가호, de la compañía PLT (Planetarium Records), acaba de hacer su gran comeback con su primer álbum completo Fireworks. Un trabajo muy especial que llega con el tema principal Right Now.
BA NA NA ha tenido el honor de hablar con Gaho en una entrevista en exclusiva gracias a la estrategia de relaciones públicas y marketing de MJ TONZ.
Hablamos del artista de sus inicios en la música, todo lo que hay detrás de su trabajo 'Fireworks', las OSTs a las que ha puesto voz y cómo busca inspiración para sus composiciones.

El artista Gaho 가호 se encuentra bajo PLT, una de las compañías que se caracteriza porque todos sus integrantes son productores y compositores, y así es Gaho. Un artista con un gran talento y una dulce voz que ha ganado mucha popularidad gracias a las increíbles bandas sonoras y sus exitosas producciones.
Ha puesto voz a temas para series como Start-Up, Itaewon Class o para Jirisan; siendo esta última su para este último presentando el tema "Memories". Y además de esto, tiene grandes éxitos a sus espaldas como artista en solitario, como puede ser Rush Hour, RIDE o Fireworks.
Acaba de volver con Fireworks con su tema principal Right Now. Un trabajo muy completo en el que el artista ha querido dejar escritos sus sentimientos en su etapa actual. Todo un regalo para los fans y para los oídos.
BA NA NA, gracias a MJ TONZ, ha tenido el honor de realizar una entrevista en exclusiva con Gaho. Y así conocer más sobre el artista que se esconde detrás de producciones únicas y OSTs exitosas, además de descubrir curiosidades, cómo compone sus canciones y sus deseos para el próximo año.

Gaho, tu nombre es una referencia en la industria. Pero realmente queremos conocer tus inicios… ¿Cuándo y cómo te interesaste por la música? ¿Tienes un referente musical al que hayas tenido como referencia?
Comenzó mi interés en la música cuando estaba en mi segundo año de instituto. Pensé que debería conocer la música poco a poco y aprender sobre ella antes de ponerme a trabajar en serio con ella en el futuro. Conozco a muchos amigos que trabajan en la escena musical así que creo que su influencia siempre ha sido más fuerte para mi.
Cuando era joven, siempre quise hacer algo relacionado con las artes o los deportes porque pensé que sería divertido. Pero más tarde descubrí que tenía pasión por hacer algo relacionado con la música. Así que, gracias a mis amigos, comencé a componer canciones. Al principio era sólo eso componer canciones, pero luego pensé que no estaría mal cantar mis propias canciones y me convertí en un cantautor
Gaho, your name is a reference on the industry. But we really want to know your beginnings… When and how did you become interested in music? Do you have a musical reference to follow in the footsteps?I think i started music on the second year of high school. I thought I should get to know music little by litter and then work on making music later. I met a lot of friends who did music, so I think their influence was the biggest.When I was younger I always wanted to do something related to arts and sports because I thought it would be fun, but later I discovered that I had a bigger desire to do something related to music. Then, thanks to my friends I started composing. At first it was only composing songs, right? But then I thought it would be okay to also sing my songs so I became a singer-songwriter.
Desde tu debut hasta hoy, ¿Cómo has crecido como artista? ¿Qué momentos difíciles has encontrado en el camino y qué has aprendido con cada álbum/single?
He estado probando diferentes estilos durante este tiempo en el que he estado haciendo la música que quería hacer. Sigo enfrentándome a nuevos retos porque aún soy joven, pero creo que puedo mostrar mis talentos musicales combinándolos con mi música en diferentes modos. A veces es difícil pensar en nuevos conceptos ya que paso la mayor parte de mi tiempo trabajando en mi música, pero cuando resulta difícil intento centrarme en hacia dónde quiero que la canción vaya. Creo que de este modo he sido capaz de poner mi propio color en mis álbumes.
Since your debut till today, How have you grown as an artist? What hard moments have you found along the way and what have you learned with each album/single?I’ve tried to make various styles while doing the music I want to do. I’m still trying new challenges since I’m young, but I think I can show my own musical talents by combining them with my music in a variety of ways. Since I spend most of my time working on my music, sometimes it’s hard to come up with new concepts, but I try to focus more on the direction I want (the song) to go each time, I think this way I was able to put my own color into each album.
Ahora realizas tu comeback con tu primer álbum "Fireworks" que contiene 12 canciones y cada canción corresponderá con un sentimiento. ¿Qué historia hay detrás de este álbum?
Tengo 25 años, y creo que la palabra Fireworks (fuegos artificiales) es la que mejor representa mis 20. Ese momento en que los fuegos artificiales vuelan y explotan en un lugar alto del cielo es un momento fugaz. Pensé que mis 20 también son una época luminosa y que estoy en un proceso de subir a un lugar más alto. Ya que es un álbum completo, contiene un total de 12 canciones y hay diferentes géneros musicales.
Now You are doing your comeback with your first album ‘Fireworks’ that contains 12 songs and each song will correspond with a feeling. What story is behind this album?I’m 25 years old and I thought that the most accurate word to represent my 20s would be ‘Fireworks’. The moment when fireworks fly above the sky and explode in a high place is a very short fleeting moment. I thought my twenties were also the most brilliant period of my life and I thought I was staying in a process of going up to a higher colorful place in that brilliant time. Since it’s a full-lenght album, It contains a total of 12 songs and you will be able to listen to different genres.
Tu canción principal es ‘Right Now’, ¿qué hace que esta canción sea única? ¿Y cuál es la sensación que querías transmitir a través de ella?
‘Right Now’ es una canción que fue compuesta basándome en la inspiración que recibí de pensar que hay pocos días en los que la gente pueda sentir emociones muy fuertes en sus vidas. Mi parte favorita es que es la canción está llena de emoción, y cuando la escuchas hay una parte de la canción que simplemente explota… creo que es una canción que es buena para escuchar mientras paseas. Contiene la esperanza de que puedas sentir fuertes emociones mientras la escuchas.
Creo que lo que quise transmitir es que hay sentimientos que sientes en momentos específicos de tu vida y esos sentimientos son importantes. Espero que esta canción sea un punto de apoyo para aquellas personas jóvenes que están pasando por momentos difíciles en sus vidas.
You title track is ‘Right Now’, What makes this song unique? And what is the feeling that you wanted to transmit through it?‘Right Now’ is a song that was composed by being inspired by the fact that there are not many days when people feel overwhelming emotions in their lives. My favorite part is that is that it’s full of emotion. When you listen to the song, there’s a part where it just explodes, and it will be better to listen to it while walking on the streets. It contains the hope that you will be moved (emotionally) while listening to it.I think that what I wanted to transmit is that there are feelings we feel at a special moment in our life that are precious emotions. I hope this song will be a starting point for young people who are going through difficult time in their lives.
Además de tu tema principal... ¿Qué otra canción recomendarías a nuestros lectores de tu nuevo álbum y por qué?
Es una canción llamada HIGH. Es la última canción del álbum. La escribí con la idea de que si tuviese otro ego (otra persona) dentro de mí, este ego soñador y confuso tendría el lugar que le correspondiese. Creo que podréis sentir algo diferente con este álbum.
Besides your title track... What other song would you recommend to our readers of your new album and why?It’s a song called HIGH. It’s the last one in the album. I composed it with the idea that if I had another ego, this dreamy and confused ego could fit in. I think you’ll be able to get a special feeling from this album.
Eres un excelente compositor y productor. Talentos que nos muestras en cada una de tus canciones. ¿Cómo es tu proceso de creación? ¿De dónde sacas la inspiración para todas tus canciones?
No tengo ningún hobby y normalmente trabajo mucho en la música, así que tiendo a pensar mucho sobre tener una temática mientras compongo. Escucho las diferentes historias que me cuentan mis amigos o conocidos sobre sus vidas y extraigo ideas de esas historias. No tengo muchos hobbies pero hay algo que siempre me gusta hacer, y es que en vez de quedarme en la cama mirando mi móvil antes de irme a dormir, salgo a pasear.
No hay mucha gente que salga a pasear, pensé que le gustaría a más gente… Pero si paseas durante treinta minutos mientras escuchas la música que te gusta puedes sentir que has terminado tu día bien. Leí en algún sitio que pasear es bueno para la actividad cerebral. Ya que aumenta la concentración y te recuerda ideas o te inspira. Si hay gente que necesita inspiración o nuevas ideas, intentad pasear durante 30 minutos, a lo mejor os ayuda como a mí.
You are an excellent songwriter and producer. Talents that you show us in each of your songs. How is your creation process? Where do you get the inspiration for all your songs?I don’t have a hobby and I usually work on music a lot, so I think I tend to think a lot about having a theme while composing. I listen to different stories about the daily lives of my friends and the people around me and get ideas from them. I don’t have a lot of hobbies but there’s something I always enjoy. Instead of lying down checking my phone before going to bed, I go outside and take a walk.There aren’t that many people taking walks, I thought a lot of people took walks… But if you take a walk while listening to the music you want for like 30 minutes, you feel like you’ve finished your day well. I read this somewhere, that walking is very good for brain activity. It increases concentration and reminds you of ideas and inspiration… If there are people who need ideas or inspiration, take a walk for just 30 minutes. You can get a source of inspiration, like me.
Gaho estás muy vinculado a los OST, tus canciones siempre son hits y has ganado premios por ello. ¿Qué se siente al poner tu voz en las bandas sonoras de tantas series? ¿Qué banda sonora ha significado más para ti a nivel personal?
Hay veces en las que no participo en la composición de las canciones, así que siempre pienso en cómo puedo hacer que la parte vocal sea más especial o cuales son las intenciones de los compositores. Hay muchísimas preocupaciones (respecto a las OST) así que es algo nuevo y divertido para mí. Creo que es la razón de mi continuo crecimiento (como artista). Si tuviese que elegir una OST que significa mucho para mí, creo que sería 시작 (Start Over). No sólo ganó el primer puesto en los charts musicales, sino que además fue una buena oportunidad para promocionarme como artista a otras personas. Estoy muy agradecido de poder continuar haciendo OSTs.
Gaho is very linked to the OSTs, your songs are always hits and you have won awards for it. How does it feel to put your voice on the OSTs of so many series? What soundtrack has meant the most to you on a personal level?There are times where I don’t participate in composing the OST, so I keep thinking how can I make the vocal part more unique? What’s the composer’s intention with this song? There are many of these concerns so it feels like something new and fun. I think it’s the driving force behind my continued development. If I were to pick a meaningful OST, I think it would be 시작 (Start Over). Not only did it win first place on the music chart but it was an opportunity to promote me (Gaho) to more people. I’m grateful that I’m still doing OSTs.
Tu última banda sonora fue para "Jirisan", la banda sonora que también incluía a Jin de BTS o Taeyeon de Girls 'Generation. ¿Cómo fue colaborar para esta serie? ¿Con qué sentimientos tuviste que lidiar para expresar la historia de la canción?
Es un drama que está producido por gente muy conocida, así que ha sido un honor para mí y también para otros artistas participar en la banda sonora. A diferencia del resto de las canciones, la letra es completamente en inglés así que pensé que sería un nuevo desafío. Intenté cantarla lo mejor posible.
Your last OST was for "Jirisan", the soundtrack that also featured Jin from BTS or Taeyeon from Girls' Generation.. What was it like collaborating for this series? What feelings did you have to deal with to voice the story of the song?It’s a drama that’s produced by so many famous people that it was an honor for me and as well for other amazing seniors to participate in the OST. Unlike the previous songs, the lyrics are all in English, so I thought It was a new challenge. I tried to sing as cooly as possible.
Estás realmente activo a través de tu canal de YouTube con diferentes tipos de contenido. Pero tus covers son uno de los contenidos más populares ... ¿Cuál es tu cover favorita y por qué?
Mi cover favorita es How You Like That de Blackpink. La hice con mis amigos del crew musical KAVE. Creo que me gusta más esta cover porque pasé mucho tiempo mezclándola y masterizándola… Creo que es por eso que las reacciones de los fans y de la gente que ha visto el vídeo ha tenido grandes reacciones…
You are really active through your YouTube channel with different types of content. But your covers are one of the most popular content… Which is your favorite cover and why?My favorite cover is Blackpink’s How You Like That. I was able to do it with our crew KAVE. I think I’m more attached to the song because I spent a lot of time from mixing to mastering… I think that’s why the fans and the people who watched this cover had bigger reactions.
Gaho has hecho muchas colaboraciones con artistas... Pero si tuvieras que elegir un artista para hacer una canción... ¿Con qué artista te gustaría colaborar y por qué?
Hay un cantante que siempre digo (cuando me preguntan esto). Zayn Malik, el ex miembro de One Direction. Me gusta mucho como artista. Además también disfruto de la música de Imagine Dragons, así que también me gustaría colaborar con ellos si tuviera la oportunidad.
Gaho has done many collaborations with artists... But if you had to choose an artist to make a song... With which artist would you like to collaborate and why?There’s a singer that I always say (when asked this question). He’s Zayn Malik, the former member of One Direction. I really like him as an artist! And I also enjoy listening to Imagine Dragons’ music, so I would like to collaborate with them if I have a chance.
¿Hay algún género o concepto musical que te gustaría probar en el futuro?
Creo que estaría bien intentar diferentes cosas. Sería interesante jugar con EDM en mi música… Cuando sea mayor, me gustaría intentar música que esté de moda. He experimentado con canciones como Hello de Cho Yongpil y Boune… Pero creo que estaría bien probar música que esté de moda estos días…
Is there a music genre or concept you'd like to try in the future?I think it would be good to try different things. It would be interesting to express EDM in my music… When I get older, I want to try even more trendy music. I have experienced songs like Cho Yongpil’s HELLO and Boune, but I think it would be nice to try music that fits the trend these days.
Ahora que todo vuelve lentamente a la normalidad, ¿te gustaría hacer una gira mundial y volver a Europa para un concierto?
Espero que COVID19 desaparezca rápido y todo el mundo pueda volver a sus vidas normales. Creo que si eso sucede, será posible visitar a mis fans extranjeros más a menudo. Si tengo un tour mundial, me gustaría ir a Europa actuar para mis fans y cantar con ellos. Incluso después del tour, quiero tener muchos recuerdos de mi viaje por Europa. Creo que será posible muy pronto.
Now that everything is slowly returning to normality, would you like to go on a world tour and go back to Europe for a concert?I hope COVID19 ends quickly and everyone can go back to their daily lives. If that happens, I think it will be possible to meet overseas fans often. If I have a world tour, I would like to go to Europe and sing and perform with my fans. Even after the tour, I want to make a lot of good memories while traveling around Europe. I think it will be possible soon!
¿Tienes un objetivo en mente como artista? Qué es y por qué?
Incluso después de haberme convertido en un veterano, como mis artistas favoritos, quiero continuar desafiándome musicalmente, evitando los caminos seguros. Quiero ser un artista que disfrute de la música y de los nuevos desafíos que puedan venir.
Do you have a goal in mind as an artist? What is it and why?Even though I have become a veteran artist like my favorite artists, I want to continue to take on new challenges musically without going on a safe path. I want to be a musician who continues to enjoy challenges.
¿Puedes enviar un saludo a tus fans en España y Latinoamérica?
¡Hola a todos, soy Gaho! Estoy muy agradecido de que haya tantas personas que escuchen y disfruten de mi música y me tengan tanto cariño tan lejos de Corea. Dada la situación, no nos podemos ver, pero espero que todo mejore rápido y pueda visitar España y Latinoamerica y actuar allí. ¡Continuaré haciendo buena música para ustedes! ¡Muchísimas gracias, os quiero!
Can you send a greeting to your fans in Spain and Latin America?Hi everyone, it’s Gaho here! I’m very grateful that there are people who listen to my music and that love me a lot so far from Korea.
