Park Soohyun (박수현), más conocida como ADORA (아도라), acaba de presentar su gran debut como artista en solitario bajo AURA Entertainment. Y en BA NA NA hemos tenido el honor de poder hablar con ella.

Conocimos a Park Soohyun tras ganar pasar las audiciones Next New Creator de la compañía BigHit Entertainment. La artista consiguió trabajo desde 2016 hasta 2020 como productora interna de la compañía, pero ahora ha llegado su gran momento de brillar como la solista ADORA.
ADORA (아도라) se presenta como artista de AURA Entertainment. Con una carrera impecable nos hace bailar y disfrutar, mientras olvidamos todos nuestros problemas, con su debut con 'MAKE U DANCE'. Un trabajo muy esperado a nivel nacional e internacional que está triunfando y que cuenta con Eunha, integrante de VIVIZ que conocimos en GFRIEND.
Descubre los inicios en la música de ADORA, su paso por BigHit Entertainment, su decisión firme de ser solista y su firma con AURA Entertainment. Gracias a esta entrevista nos acercamos más a la artista, conociendo sus dificultades pero también sus deseos de futuro en esta nueva etapa profesional.

ADORA, tu vida cambió tanto en solo 1 año. ¡Ahora estás debutando como solista! ¿Cómo te encuentras actualmente, musicalmente hablando, y en qué dirección vas?
¡Realmente estoy debutando!
Puede parecer que mi vida ha cambiado drásticamente, pero en realidad siento lo mismo. Todo es nuevo para mí, por lo que no estoy segura de en qué dirección voy o en qué dirección iré. Pero sea cual sea la dirección, confío en que todos estos pasos serán significativos para mí.
ADORA, your life changed so much in just 1 year. Now you are debuting as a solo artist! Musically speaking, where are you currently and in what direction are you going?I’m really debuting!It might seem as if my life has changed drastically, but actually, I feel the same. Everything is new to me, so I’m not sure what direction I’m going in or will be going in. But whatever direction it is, I trust that all of those steps will be meaningful to me.
¿Cuándo y cómo te interesaste por la música? ¿Quiénes dirías que son tus principales influencias musicales?
Desde que era muy joven, me aseguré de sintonizar todos los programas de música coreana. En ese momento, estaba más interesada en la "interpretación" y el "canto" que en la música en sí.
¡Creo que por aquel entonces me gustaba un poco más bailar! Gradualmente, me decidí a convertirme en un mejor vocalista y mientras cantaba, desarrollé el deseo de tener mis propias canciones. ¡Así surgió mi interés por escribir letras y componer!
Es muy difícil elegir un solo artista que haya tenido un impacto en mi vida. Ya que cada uno de ellos fueron los mejores mentores para mí. Pero si tuviera que elegir, diría Rihanna, Tori Kelly y Beyoncé porque recuerdo cantar su música a menudo.
When and how did you become interested in music? Who would you say are your major musical influences?Since I was very young, I made sure to tune in to all the Korean music programs. At the time, I was more interested in “performance” and the “singer” rather than the music itself.I think I liked dancing a bit more back then! Gradually, I became more determined to becomea better vocalist and while singing, I developed a desire to have my own songs. That’s how my interest for writing lyrics and composing came to be!It’s very difficult to choose only one artist that impacted my life. Each of them were the best mentors to me, but if I had to choose, I would say Rihanna, Tori Kelly, and Beyoncé because I remember singing along to their music often.
Tu gran paso en la música fue cuando ganaste Next New Creator y comenzaste como productora interna en BigHit Entertainment. ¿Qué significó eso para ti y cómo ha influido en tu vida profesional? ¿Qué considerarías como lo más importante de esta etapa de tu carrera?
¡¡Este fue el punto de inflexión más grande de mi vida !!
Esto se convirtió en una gran parte de mi carrera y pude aprender más allá del lado musical de las cosas. Fue una oportunidad para mí de sentir a los fans y la industria a través de escuchar y hacer música. Fueron tiempos por los que estoy muy agradecida.
Otra experiencia importante que tuve en este momento fue cuando llegué a mis propios límites. Aunque siempre sentí que me enfrentaba a mis límites, poco a poco me fui estirando. Esto solo fue posible gracias a los muchos mentores y colegas a mi lado, ya que hubiera sido imposible si lo hubiera hecho sola. Incluso ahora, siento que me me quedo atrás en alguna manera.
Pero estoy segura de que esto me permitirá convertirme en una mejor persona
Your big step in music was when you won Next New Creator and you started as an internal producer at BigHit Entertainment. What did that mean to you and how has it influenced your professional life? What would you consider as the peak of this era of your career?This was the biggest turning point of my life!!It became a huge part of my career and I was able to learn beyond just the musical side of things. It was an opportunity for me to feel the fans and industry through listening and making music. Those were times I’m very grateful for.Another important experience I had at this time was when I reached my own limits. Although I always felt like I was facing my limits , I stretched myself little by little. This was only possible because of the many mentors and colleagues by my side and it would’ve been impossible if I had done it alone. Even now, I very much feel that I lack in many ways.But I’m certain that this will allow me to become a better person.
Conocimos a ADORA detrás de los artistas, produciendo y componiendo canciones increíbles. ¿Cuándo y cómo tomaste la decisión de que querías debutar como solista?
¡Convertirme en cantante siempre ha sido mi sueño!
Pasé unos 6 años como aprendiz, que en realidad fue mucho más largo que mi tiempo como compositora. Estoy muy agradecida de haber sido descubierta como compositor y haber podido tomar la música como mi ocupación. Pero en mi corazón, siempre estuvo el sueño de cantar.
Hubo un momento en el que me enfrenté a algunos problemas de salud, así que me tomé un descanso para reflexionar sobre mí misma. Una de las muchas cosas que decidí hacer en ese momento fue lanzar canciones con mi propia voz y color.
We meet ADORA behind the artists - producing and composing amazing songs for artists. When and how did you make the decision that you wanted to debut as a solo artist?Becoming a singer has always been my dream!I spent about 6 years as a trainee, which was actually a lot longer than my time as a composer. I am extremely grateful that I was discovered as a composer and could take on music as my occupation. But in my heart, there was always this dream of singing.There was a time when I was facing some health issues, so I took a break to do some self-reflecting. One of the many things I resolved to do at that time was to release songs with my own voice and color.
Tu debut como solista es con tu sencillo digital “MAKE U DANCE”. ¿Qué nos puedes contar de esta canción? ¿Qué quieres decirles a todos tus fans a través de esta canción?
Creo que hay mucha gente que está agotada por todo tipo de razones. A través de esta canción espero que las personas que han perdido la chispa debido a sus vidas ocupadas puedan tomarse un par de minutos para bailar al ritmo de esta canción. No tiene que ser un baile increíble. Asentir con la cabeza o chasquear los dedos está bien. ¡Incluso un baile tonto servirá!
Cuando los fans se sientan como tontos por mostrar amabilidad, o equivocados cuando simplemente son diferentes o impotentes, espero que experimenten alegría a través de esta canción.
Mientras digan, “This black and white world is the emergency patient. Not me!”
Your debut as a soloist is with your debut digital single “MAKE U DANCE”. What can you tell us about this song? What do you want to tell all your fans through it?I think there are many people who are exhausted for all sorts of reasons. Through this song, I hope people who have lost their spark due to their busy lives can take a couple of minutes to dance along to this song. It doesn’t have to be any amazing dance. Nodding along or tapping of the fingers is fine. Even a silly dance will do!When the fans feel like fools for showing kindness, or wrong when they’re just different, or powerless, I hope they experience exhilaration through this song.All the while saying, “This black and white world is the emergency patient. Not me!”
“MAKE U DANCE” es una colaboración con Eunha de VIVIZ. ¿Cómo fue la colaboración con esta artista? ¿Pensaste en ella desde el principio para esta canción?
En realidad, trabajé en esta canción antes de que se arreglaran las promociones o el artista con el que iba a colaborar, así que me sumergí en escribir esta canción para que la cantara después de convertirme en cantante. La idea de cantarla con alguien surgió después de que terminé la canción. Algunos sugirieron que sería bueno si otro artista apareciera en la canción, así que se lo propuse a Eunha y ella aceptó con mucho gusto unirse a mí.
Eunha en realidad estaba comenzando algo nuevo ella misma, entonces, ¿debería decir que me sentí destinada a conocerla? (Risas) No puedo olvidar el momento en que la voz cristalina de Eunha se agregó a la pista el día que grabamos con ella.
“MAKE U DANCE” is a collaboration with Eunha of VIVIZ. How was the collaboration with this artist? Did you think of this artist from the beginning for this song?Actually, I worked on this song before the featured artist or promotions were fixed, so I was immersed in writing this song for me to sing after becoming a singer. The thought of singing it with someone came up after the song was finished. Some suggested that it might be nice if another artist featured on the song, so I proposed it to Eunha and she gladly agreed to join me!Eunha was actually beginning something new herself, so should I say that I felt destined to meet her? (Laughs) I can’t forget the moment Eunha’s crystal clear voice was added onto the track the day we recorded with her.
¿Qué dificultades ha encontrado al prepararte para tu debut en solitario y qué has aprendido de este importante paso profesional?
Había muchas cosas por hacer.
Pensé: "Para convertirme en artista, incluso necesito hacer esto, y esto es lo que mi sello y los miembros del personal deben prepararse". De la A a la Z, hubo tantas cosas nuevas.
En todo el proceso, gente de muchos campos me ayudó mucho. Porque sé que hubo muchos que vertieron su sangre y sudor en mi single debut, “MAKE U DANCE”, ¡sentí y aprendí que necesitaba hacer un trabajo aún mejor!
What difficulties have you encountered when preparing for your solo debut and what have you learned from this important professional step?There were tons of things to get done.I thought, “In order to become an artist, I even need to do this, and this is how much my label and staff members need to prepare?” From A to Z, there were so many new things.In the whole process, people from many fields gave me a great deal of help. Because I know that there were many who poured their blood and sweat into my debut single, “MAKE U DANCE”, I strongly felt and learned that I need to do an even better job!
Eres una productora, compositora y cantante increíble. ¿Cómo es el proceso de creación? ¿De dónde sacas la inspiración para todas tus canciones?
La gente siempre está a mi lado. No creo que sea un gran productor o compositor por mi cuenta. En realidad, me siento un poco mal porque siento que tomé parte de su atención.
El proceso es diferente cada vez. A veces, el tema de la canción es lo primero o comienza a partir de una melodía que me viene a la mente. Creo que mi propia vida es una fuente de inspiración.
No hay nada especial en mi vida, pero todo me ha convertido en quien soy hoy.
You are an amazing producer, songwriter and singer. What is your creation process like? Where do you get the inspiration for all your songs?People are always by my side. I don’t think that I am an amazing producer or composer on my own. Actually, I feel a little bad because I feel like I took some of their spotlight.The process is different every time. Sometimes, the theme of the song comes first, or it starts from a melody that comes to mind. I think my life itself is a source of inspiration.There’s nothing special about my life, but it has all made me who I am today.
Tu debut fue muy inesperado, pero al mismo tiempo, ¡los fans te han enviado muchos mensajes de aliento y apoyo! ¿Esperabas tal reacción de tantos fans coreanos e internacionales?
Como dijiste, mi debut fue bastante inesperado, pero tenía más miedo de que no hubiera respuestas positivas (Sollozos). Pero me sentí muy conmovida por todo el apoyo conmovedor y los mensajes de aliento. Definitivamente fue inesperado.
Your debut was very unexpected, but at the same time, fans have sent you many encouraging and supportive messages! Did you expect such a reaction from so many Korean and international fans?As you said, my debut was quite unexpected, but I was more scared that there wouldn’t be positive responses. (Sobs) But I felt very moved by all the heartwarming support and encouraging messages. It was definitely unexpected.
Y si tuvieras que elegir algunas de las canciones en las que has participado escribiendo, ¿cuáles serían las que más te han marcado profesional y personalmente?
Cada canción en la que he trabajado es preciosa y significativa para mí. Sin embargo, diría que “Wings”, la primera canción en la que trabajé con mi antigua compañía, fue lo que más me impactó. Esta canción me ha abierto las puertas a un nuevo capítulo de mi vida.
And if you had to choose some of the songs in which you have participated in writing, which would be the ones that have marked you the most professionally and personally?Every song I’ve worked on is precious and meaningful to me. However, I would say that “Wings”, the first song I worked on with my former company, impacted me the most. This song has opened the doors to a new chapter of my life.
¿Tienes un objetivo en mente como artista? Qué es y por qué?
Quiero ser un artista que sepa compartir el amor recibido.
Aunque es genial ser reconocida y honrada por mis logros como artista, no quiero centrarme demasiado en eso. ¡Solo quiero avanzar constantemente como artista porque espero disfrutar cantando durante mucho tiempo!
Do you have a goal in mind as an artist? What is it and why?I want to be an artist who knows how to share the love that’s been received.Although it’s great to be acknowledged and honored for my accomplishments as an artist, I don’t want to focus on that too much. I just want to consistently push forward as an artist because I hope to enjoy singing for a long time!
