El artista en solitario from20, al cual conocimos en en marzo del 2021 bajo la compañía THE FAKER CLUB, acaba de realizar su esperado primer comeback con su segundo single RADIO WILL SING OUR SONG.
En BA NA NA hemos podido hablar con from20 y realizar una entrevista en exclusiva en el que hablamos de su nuevo comeback, su trabajo como productor y compositor, planes de futuro y más curiosidades.

Gracias a la salida y aparición de THE FAKER CLUB, compañía de música, moda y vídeo que vio la luz a principios del 2021 junto a HELLO GLOOM (Ungjae), from20 y SULJU, pudimos disfrutar de uno de los debuts más carismáticas y únicos de la temporada.
from20 realizó su debut en solitario bajo este proyecto. Nos sorprendió con su primer single, en el que nos presentó dos temas from20 y 친구들은 하나 둘 담배를 피우기 시작해 (Cigarettes&You) como title track.
Y ahora, tras sólo tres meses, from20 ha realizado su primer comeback con RADIO WILL SING OUR SONG. Un segundo single que te sorprenderá por su letra, producción y sonido. Un trabajo de lujo que se ha colado en nuestras listas de reproducción.
BA NA NA ha podido hablar con from20, y gracias a esta entrevista en exclusiva podrás conocer mejor al cantante, productor, compositor y artista.

P. ¿Cómo ha cambiado tu vida desde que pudiste debutar como solista y trabajas en THE FAKER CLUB?
No pude hacer actividades en los últimos años. Durante todo ese tiempo estuve esperando ansiosamente para poder realizar promociones relacionadas con mi música. Ahora que puedo hacerlo, estos momentos son muy preciados para mí. Estoy feliz de poder expresar todo lo que he vivido durante esa temporada.
Además poder hacerlo con mis compañeros de TFC es increíble. He recibido ayuda en diferentes áreas.
Q. How has your life changed since you were able to debut as a solo artist and are working at THE FAKER CLUB?I couldn’t do any promotion activities in the last few years. I was waiting anxiously for the chance to be able to promote my music and now that I am able to do so, those moments are very precious to me.I’m really happy to be able to express the experiences I’ve lived in the last few years.Also to be able to do this with my friends at TFC is amazing. I’ve received a lot of help in different areas.
P. Debutaste con tu primer single '20; Still hungry for juices, I'm kissing this 20'. ¿Qué es lo que más te emocionó de este paso profesional? ¿Qué retos tuviste que afrontar?
Creo que lo más emocionante es poder sacar mi álbum en solitario, durante los últimos diez años he soñado con este día. Ha sido un sueño para el que he estado preparándome y trabajando duro y que haya sido posible hacerlo realidad es increíble.
Además ha sido algo complicado ya que tenía que estar pendiente de los problemas que salieran con la música, como la distribución, el marketing, las relaciones públicas… Aún así ha sido muy divertido.
Q. You debuted with your first single '20; Still hungry for juices, I'm kissing this 20'. What excited you the most about this professional step? What challenges did you have to face?The best thing about releasing my debut album is that I am finally releasing a solo album and I had that dream for the last ten years. I've been preparing for a long time and I've dreamed for a long time, so being able to release my music is amazing.And also there were the difficulties I had to face. I had to pay attention to areas such as distribution, public relations, and marketing, so my head was very complicated. But it was still fun.
P. Has realizado tu primer comeback en junio de 2021, y solo han pasado 3 meses desde tu debut. ¿Cómo ha sido preparar este trabajo en este poco tiempo?
Cuando sacamos el primer single, la fecha para el segundo ya estaba decidida. Creo que me preparé con rapidez. Tengo grandes planes para este año así que intentaré seguir mis planes y prepararme adecuadamente.
Q. You make your first comeback in June 2021, and it's only been less than 3 months since your debut. How has it been to prepare everything in this short time?When we released our first single, the date for the release of the second single was already set. I think I got ready in a hurry. I have big plans already planned for this year so I will try to follow them and get ready.
P. El título de la canción de su nuevo single es 'RADIO (WILL SING OUR SONG)'. ¿Qué quieres transmitir con esta canción? ¿Qué hace que esta canción sea especial para el resto de tus trabajos?Quise contar la historia a través de la música de un amor eterno, aunque la pareja hubiera roto. Como cantautor, quería expresar cómo lidiar con el amor y la despedida. Como músico, el amor y la despedida son elementos de inspiración para mí y creo que en cierto modo es una extensión del último trabajo por lo que puedes ver el color de from20.
Q. The title song of your new single is 'RADIO (WILL SING OUR SONG)'. What do you want to transmit with this song? What makes this song special to the rest of your works?I wanted to tell through music the story of an endless love even though the couple were broken up. As a singer songwriter I wanted this song to express how to deal with love and goodbyes. I think that, as a musician, love and goodbyes are a great inspiration to me. I also feel like this song somehow is an extension of my latest work so you can see from20’s color on it.
P. La producción de video y el arte son una parte muy importante de THE FAKER CLUB. ¿Cómo habéis preparado el concepto, las imágenes y el vídeo de tu nuevo trabajo?
Si es el caso de un proyecto en grupo, solemos reunirnos y hablar sobre ello y lo que queremos hacer. Todos tenemos buenas ideas así que solemos tener muchos temas para elegir. Cuando el concepto está seleccionado solemos preguntarnos cómo deberíamos mostrarlo o enfocarlo.
Para el álbum individual, al ser mi música, he decidido yo todo lo relacionado pero he preguntado mucho a mis amigos qué les parecía esto o aquello. Compartimos y decidimos muchas cosas juntos
Q. Video production and art are a very important part of THE FAKER CLUB. How have you prepared the concept, images and video for your new job?If it’s a group project we usually meet up and talk about it and what we want to do. Everyone has really good ideas so we have different options to choose. When the concept is already set, we talk about how we would like to express it.For my individual album, since it’s my music, I decided what I wanted but I asked my friends a lot about this and that. We share and decide together on a lot of things, actually.
P. from20 tiene un talento excepcional para componer y producir. Ya nos sorprendiste en tu debut y lo vuelves a hacer. ¿Qué te inspira cuando escribes y produces tus canciones?
Me pregunto muchas veces cómo me percibe la gente. Quiero ser un artista que pueda ser autocrítico. Aunque suene algo avaricioso, intento descubrir qué les interesa al público y dónde me encuentro yo. Siempre trabajo en mis canciones considerando esas dos posiciones.
Q. from20 has an exceptional talent for composing and producing. You already surprised us in your debut and you do it again again. What inspires you when you are writing and producing your songs?I ask myself a lot of times how am I being perceived when people see me. I wanna be an artist that is self objective. So when I work on my music, I always try to keep in mind what the public likes and where I am, even though it may sound greedy.
P. Si tuvieras que describirte a ti mismo como artista, ¿qué frase o palabra usarías y por qué?
Un artista que escribe buenas letras.
Estoy orgulloso de nuestras letras. Aunque suelen ser temas que se tratan a diario, creo que los escribo de un modo que nadie había hecho. Me gustaría ser un artista que pueda hacer que la gente simpatice con sus canciones gracias a las letras.
Q. If you had to describe yourself as an artist, what phrase or word would you use and why?An artist that writes good lyrics.I am proud of my lyrics. Even though they are daily topics, I think I write them about them in a way that no one has ever done before. I’d like to be an artist that can make people sympathize with his songs through the lyrics.
P. ¿Qué artistas nacionales o internacionales (sin importar la especialidad) te inspiraron para ser cantante?
Estos días cada vez que veo a Park Yerin pienso ‘ah, yo quiero ser ese tipo de artista’. Tiene su propio color y lo ha mantenido a través de sus canciones y son canciones que le gustan al público. Creo que eso es increíble.
También está IU, cuya carrera entera es mi inspiración y la dirección en la que quiero que vaya mi carrera. Letras bonitas, una carrera exitosa y un gran talento.
Q. Which national or international artists (no matter the specialty) inspired you to be a singer?These days, whenever I see Park Yerin I think that I want to be that kind of artist. She has her own color and she kept it through out all her songs, plus the public love her music. I think that’s really cool.There’s also IU, whose career is my inspiration and the way I want my career to go towards. Beautiful lyrics, a very successful career and an amazing talent.
P. Somos seguidores de tu canal de YouTube. Nos encantan tus carátulas acústicas, vlogs y videos. ¿Con qué nos sorprenderá from20 en el futuro? ¿Tiene un plan de contenido nuevo para youtube?
Tenemos pensado mostrar un documental sobre el proceso de creación de este álbum. Serán 4 episodios que están listos y cada uno muestra una parte del proceso de creación de manera detallada. Por favor, prestadles mucha atención.
También estoy pensando en subir más covers en el futuro.
Q. We are followers of your YouTube channel. We love your acoustic covers, vlogs and videos. What will from20 surprise us with in the future? Do you have a plan for new content for youtube?We have prepared a documentary about the creation process of this album. It will be a 4 episode documentary and each episode is about one specific part of the creative process plus it explains it in detail, so please give it a lot of attention.I’m also thinking about uploading more covers in the future.
P. ¿Tienes un objetivo en mente como artista? ¿Cuál es y por qué?
Como el título de la canción principal tiene que ver con la radio, me gustaría que si mi canción acaba en la radio, alguien se pregunte quién es el artista o qué canción es. Eso sería suficiente. Quiero hacer una canción que te haga pensar que es buena nada más la escuches una vez.
Q. Do you have a goal in mind as an artist? What is it and why?Since the title of the title track has the word radio on it, I’d like that, if my song ever plays in the radio, people wonder who’s the artist or what song that is. I think that’d be good enough. I wanna make songs that makes an impression on you as soon as you heard them.
P. ¿Puedes enviar un saludo a tus fans en España y Latinoamérica?
Hola a todos. Soy from20. Aunque nunca he estado en España o Latinoamerica, muchísimas gracias por apoyarme desde tan lejos.
La situación va mejorando poco a poco y me gustaría poder conoceros pronto. Internet es una cosa increíble… aunque estéis al otro lado del mundo, me estáis apoyando de este modo…
Por eso mismo, aunque yo esté también al otro lado del mundo para vosotros, intentaré animaros a través de mi música. Muchísimas gracias de nuevo. Os quiero.
Q. Can you send a greeting to your fans in Spain and Latin America?Hey everyone! I’m from20! Even though I have never been in Spain or Latinamerica, I’m very thankful for your support.The situation is getting better and I’d like to meet you as soon as posible. Internet is really an amazing thing, even though you're at the other side of the world you’re supporting me like this…So me too, even though I’m on the other side of the world for you, will try to cheer you through my music.
