La serie The Untamed 陈情令 trajo consigo un gran fenómeno que tras su estreno en 2019 sigue activo hasta el día de hoy. En parte gracias a sus protagonistas, que dieron un paso más allá para la formación de The Untamed Boys 陈情少年, el grupo musical de los protagonistas de la serie que debutaba en 2020 con su primer álbum.
En la primera parte de 2020 pudimos realizar una entrevista a los actores de The Untamed principales y ahora que han aterrizado en el terreno musical, hemos vuelto a hablar con ellos sobre su primer disco. En BA NA NA hemos podido entrevistar a The Untamed Boys sobre el lanzamiento de LOVE: ONE-ACT y cómo ha sido trabajar como grupo. Yubin, Cao Yuchen, Jili y Li Bowen nos cuentan sus experiencias trabajando como T.U.B.S.
¿Quieres saber qué nos ha contado The Untamed Boys?
2019 llegaba con el fenómeno The Untamed tras el éxito de la serie en la televisión china y a nivel internacional. Tras su final, algunos de sus protagonistas se adentraban en la música y conocíamos a T.U.B.S (The Untamed Boys), el grupo musical formado por los protagonistas de la serie.
En BA NA NA hemos podido hablar con T.U.B.S de nuevo para conocer de primera mano y en exclusiva cómo ha sido trabajar para el lanzamiento de LOVE: ONE-ACT de T.U.B.S y conocerles mejor personalmente. La entrevista se ha hecho tras la salida Song Jiyang y Zhen Fanxing de The Untamed Boys por distintos motivos, por lo que son Yubin, Cao Yuchen, Jili y Li Bowen quienes responden a nuestras preguntas.

En BA NA NA tuvimos la oportunidad de hablar con T.U.B.S (The Untamed Boys) en la primera mitad del año 2020. ¿Qué ha cambiado para vosotros en este año?, ¿qué sorpresas os ha traído 2020?
- Yubin: Me he adentrado en muchas áreas y probé muchas cosas que no había probado antes. El 2020 me ha traído la oportunidad de intentar cosas nuevas.
- Cao Yuchen: Supongo que el año 2020 trajo grandes cambios para la gente de todo el mundo, debido a la pandemia, todo el mundo se quedó en casa. La sorpresa que me trajo fue que pude adaptarme durante un tiempo y luego grabar una nueva serie.
- Jili: Desde 2020 me gusta expresarme más y últimamente he engordado un poco. La sorpresa es que se lanza el nuevo álbum y también se emite la nueva serie.
- Li Bowen: He perdido mucho peso y me he dado cuenta de que me quedan muchas cosas por aprender. He desarrollado más curiosidad por las cosas ~
BA NA NA had the opportunity to talk with T.U.B.S (The Untamed Boys) in the first half of 2020. What has changed for you this year? What surprises has 2020 brought you?
- Yubin: I have expanded into many other areas and tried more things that I had not tried before. 2020 gave me an opportunity to try new things.
- Cao Yuchen: I guess 2020 brought about big changes for people all over the world, because of the pandemic, everyone stays at home. The surprise that it brought me was that I was able to adjust myself for a period of time and then filmed a new drama series.
- Jili: In 2020 I love to express myself more and I have become a little bit fatter recently. The surprise is that the new album is released and the new drama is also broadcasted.
- Li Bowen: I lost a lot of weight, and I realized that there are many more things for me to learn. I’ve developed more curiosity for things ~
Habéis presentado vuestro primer trabajo como The Untamed Boys, “LOVE: ONE-ACT”. ¿Qué tipos de estilos podemos encontrar en “LOVE: ONE-ACT” y qué tipos de estilo os gustaría probar en el futuro?
- Yubin: Creo que el estilo de música dentro de este álbum es muy bueno. En un futuro quiero intentar cantar rock o cantar baladas de amor. Aunque ya he probado antes otras baladas amorosas quiero intentarlo de nuevo. Canciones dulces, quiero cantar canciones dulces.
- Cao Yuchen: Mi estilo favorito de nuestro disco es el estilo R&B. En el futuro un estilo que quizás me gustaría probar es el rap o algunas canciones con fuerza, pero mi estilo favorito es el R&B.
- Jili: En el futuro me gustaría probar el rap o canciones con un fuerte sentido del ritmo. De hecho, me gustaría probar el rap.
- Li Bowen: Espero que haya mucha más música que traiga felicidad. Quizás rap.
You release your first album as T.U.B.S (The Untamed Boys), “LOVE:ONE-ACT”. What types of music styles can we find in “LOVE:ONE-ACT” and what types of styles or concepts would you like to try in the future?
- Yubin: I think the music style of this album is great. In the future I want to try rock music, or sing a romantic love song. Although I have tried romantic love songs before, I still want to try it again. Sweet songs, I want to sing sweet songs.
- Cao Yuchen: My favorite style in our album is R&B. In the future, I’d probably want to try some raps or some cooler songs, but my favorite is still R&B.
- Jili: In the future I’d probably want to try rap and more rhythmic songs. Actually, I would like to try rap.
- Li Bowen: I hope there can be more music that brings happiness. Maybe rap.
¿Cómo ha sido la grabación del álbum? ¿Cuál es vuestro recuerdo más divertido o interesante durante la grabación?
- Yubin: Para ser sincero, hay que decir que hubo muchos altibajos, grabamos muchas veces. Fuimos muy serios durante las grabaciones.
- Cao Yuchen: Me cansé bastante porque mi parte fue la más grabada. Grabamos 7 canciones en 2 días, todos los días desde las 5 de la tarde hasta temprano por la mañana. Después de grabar dos días perdí la voz, pero me gustó mucho el resultado.
- Jili: Grabar canciones es muy difícil y encuentras muchos problemas técnicos. Me sentía bastante abrumado cada día mientras grababa, y necesitaba la orientación del profesor y los ánimos del staff.
- Li Bowen: El sentimiento que tuve la primera vez que recibí la demo de las canciones fue que iban a ser buenas, así que quise cantarlas bien. Lo interesante es que hay un gif mío junto a Cao Yuchen, los dos cantando continuamente 'yo yo yo yo'.
How was the recording of the album? What is your funniest or most interesting memory during the recording?
- Yubin: To tell you the truth, I guess you can say that there were a lot of twists and turns, we recorded many times. We were very serious while recording.
- Cao Yuchen: It was fairly tiring, because I recorded the most parts. We recorded seven songs in two days, every day from 5 PM to early morning. After two days of recording, my voice was all gone, but nevertheless I am quite satisfied with the outcome.
- Jili: Recording songs is so difficult and I came across various technical issues. I was pretty overwhelmed every day while recording, and I needed the guidance of the teacher and the encouragement of the staff.
- Li Bowen: My first impression when I received the demo was that they were good songs, and I wanted to sing them well. Something funny is that there is a gif of me singing with Cao Yuchen, and the two of us just kept going like 'yo yo yo yo'.
¿Podremos ver MV para este trabajo? Todos vosotros sois actores y cantantes, ¿os gustaría tener la oportunidad de unir ambas profesiones y presentarnos un video musical con historia que os permita actuar?
- Yubin: Sí, he terminado de grabar el MV de YOU. Después habrá otros MVs, sé que habrá otros MV, todos pueden esperar/anticiparlo por ello. Para ser honesto, prefiero que mis MV los protagonicen otros, así yo solo canto.
- Cao Yuchen: Habrá un nuevo MV, pero creo que hay una gran diferencia entre el MV y la actuación, porque realmente no necesitas decir ninguna línea en un MV, así que lo que respecta a desarrollar mis habilidades de actuación, se lo dejo a la grabación de una serie. Espero salir un poco guapo en el MV, me he visto un poco mejor.
- Jili: Sí hay MV, pero creo que en el MV solo necesito salir guapo jaja.
- Li Bowen: Sí, dependiendo de lo que la gente piense.
Will we see MV for this job? All of you are actors and singers, would you like to have the opportunity to unite both professions and present us a music video with a story that allows you to act?
- Yubin: Yes, I have finished shooting the MV for ‘YOU’. There will also be other MVs, I know there will be, everyone can look forward to it. To be honest, I would prefer others to act in my MV, so I can just sing.
- Cao Yuchen: There will be a new MV, but I think there is still a big difference between filming a MV and acting, because you don’t really need to say any lines in a MV, so in regards to showcasing my acting skills, I think it should be left to proper drama filming. In the MV hope to be more handsome, took look a bit better.
- Jili: There will be MV, but I think in the MV I just need to be handsome haha.
- Li Bowen: Yes, depending on what everyone thinks.
Todos sois actores y cantantes, y como cantantes muchos habéis trabajado en solitario, como Yubin con “You”, Cao Yuchen con “不念不忘” o Li Bowen con “曾经”. ¿Cuáles son las diferencias trabajando solos y cuando estáis juntos?
- Yubin: Claro que hay una gran diferencia, porque la agenda en solitario es de la actividad de una sola persona y la agenda de T.U.B.S es la actividad de 5-6 personas, así que habrá diferencia en el número de personas.
- Jili: Supongo que es más divertido y nos sentimos más seguros al estar todos juntos. Todos podemos comunicarnos unos con otros, apoyarnos y pasar tiempo juntos, y la atmosfera es más activa.
- Li Bowen: Cuando pasamos tiempo juntos, estamos más felices. Cuando uno de nosotros se siente mal, también ayudamos a levantar el ánimo del otro.
All of you are actors and singers, and as singers many of you have worked solo, like Yubin with “YOU, Cao Yuchen with “不念不忘” or Li Bowen with “曾经”. What are the differences working alone and when you are together?
- Yubin: Of course there is a big difference, because individual schedules as the phrase indicates, is literally an activity involving one person, whereas T.U.B.S schedules are an activity involving 5-6 people, so there will be a big difference in the number of people.
- Jili: I guess it’s more fun and we feel more assured if everyone is together. Everyone can communicate with each other, cheer each other on, and mess around together. The atmosphere would be livelier.
- Li Bowen: It’s more pleasant when we’re all hanging and messing around together. When one of us is feeling down, we would also help to uplift each other’s moods.
¿Cada uno de vosotros tiene papeles en el grupo? ¿Cómo los elegisteis? (Por ejemplo: líder, etc)
- Yubin: Para ser honestos no tenemos a alguien llamado “líder” ni nada de eso, cada uno de nosotros puede tener la palabra siempre que sea correcto y no haya problema. En cuanto al baile, cada uno puede venir y bailar si se atreve, todos somos responsables del canto y del baile, así como la apariencia. Creo que lo mismo va por la apariencia (visuals).
- Cao Yuchen: Supongo que yo debería ser vocalista.
- Jili: Como todos saben, soy el encargado de crear un buen ambiente jaja.
- Li Bowen: Somos todos muy versátiles, la distribución es muy aleatoria jajaja.
Does each of you have roles in the group? How did you choose them? (For example leader)
- Yubin: To be honest, we don't have a so-called "leader" or anything. We can all come forward to say what we want, as long as what he says is right and there is no problem. And when it comes to dancing, everyone can dance as long as they dare to dance, and everyone is in charge of dancing and singing, and so is the case with visuals. I think the same goes for the visuals.
- Cao Yuchen: I guess I would be a vocalist.
- Jili: As everyone knows, I am the mood-maker of the group haha
- Li Bowen: We are all very versatile, the distribution is very random hahaha
Queremos que vuestros fans puedan conoceros más con esta entrevista. Contadnos, ¿tenéis algún talento oculto o hobbie que queráis compartir con nosotros? (Cocinar, tocar instrumentos, deportes…)
- Yubin: Cocinar, a veces cocino un poco. En cuanto a instrumentos musicales no domino ninguno de momento. Sobre los deportes, me gustaba nadar. Antes era nadador y atleta. Me encanta jugar a videojuegos, y lo hago muy bien. Además, mis extremidades son muy flexibles.
- Cao Yuchen: Sé cocinar. También me encantan los deportes por ejemplo el baloncesto, como los fans saben.
- Jili: Normalmente me gusta jugar al baloncesto, cuidar de mi gato, el skate, jugar a juegos y ver películas. Mi talento secreto es que soy muy bueno jugando con los gatos jaja.
- Li Bowen: Personalmente prefiero trabajar en el gimnasio y montar en skate.
We want your fans to get to know you more with this interview. Tell us, do you have any hidden talents or hobbies that you want to share with us? (For example cooking, playing instruments, sports ...)
- Yubin: Cooking, I sometimes cook a little bit. In terms of musical instruments, I’ve not mastered anything as of now. As for sports, I used to like swimming. I used to be a swimmer and a track and field athlete. I especially love gaming, I’m really good at gaming. Also, my limbs are very flexible.
- Cao Yuchen: I know how to cook. I also love sports, such as playing basketball, which fans know about.
- Jili: Usually I like to play basketball, take care of my cat, skateboard, game and watch movies. In terms of hidden talents, I am especially good at playing with cats haha.
- Li Bowen: Personally, I prefer hitting the gym and skateboarding.
2020 ha terminado y un nuevo año comienza, ¿qué objetivos y metas tenéis para el nuevo año? Tanto como grupo e individual.
- Yubin: Espero que todos se hagan ricos.
- Cao Yuchen: Espero poder encontrarme más con las fans, publicar algunas buenas canciones y hacer conciertos. Este es mi deseo para el año 2021.
- Jili: Deseo ser más fuerte, y deseo que a más gente le guste T.U.B.S. No importa si es individual o en grupo, lo importante es que todo el mundo tenga proyectos.
- Li Bowen: En el nuevo año espero que haya nuevos trabajos para todos ~
2020 ends and a new year begins, what objectives and goals do you have for the new year? As a group and solo.
- Yubin: I hope everyone gets rich.
- Cao Yuchen: I hope I can more fans more often, release some good songs and maybe hold a concert. This is my wish for 2021.
- Jili: I hope I can be stronger, and I also hope that more people like T.U.B.S. Whether it’s the individual members or as a group, what’s more important is bringing new projects to everyone.
- Li Bowen: I hope I can bring to everyone more new projects in the new year ~
Tenéis muchos fans de todo el mundo, ¿si tuvierais que recomendarles algo de China qué sería? (Por ejemplo, comida, lugar que visitar… etc.)
- Yubin: Recomiendo a todos nuestra Ópera de Pekín, podéis intentar ir a verla. ¡Ah! También el mahjong, no sé si vosotros jugáis al mahjong.
- Cao Yuchen: Hay muchas cosas para comer, pero me gustaría recomendar el hot pot, el hot pot de Sichuan o el pato laqueado a la pekinesa. Estos son los más representativos.
- Jili: Cada lugar tiene sus especialidades, como el hot pot de Chongqing, el pato pekinés, los dulces de Shanghai, el cangrejo de río de Wuhan… hay muchos, muchos platos deliciosos. Cuando la pandemia acabe, todos sois bienvenidos en China y podéis dejarme un mensaje y preguntarme por recomendaciones.
- Li Bowen: Sobre la cocina china, puedes elegir de los ochos estilos principales. Para visitar, hay muchas más opciones… Sois bienvenidos a visitar China ~
You have many fans from all over the world, if you had to recommend something from China to your fans, what would it be? (For example food, place to visit ... etc.)
- Yubin: I recommend our Peking Opera to everyone, you can try watching it. Ah! There is also mahjong, I wonder whether you guys play mahjong.
- Cao Yuchen: There are too many things to eat, but I would like to recommend hot pot, Sichuan’s hot pot and Peking Duck. These are more representative.
- Jili: Every place has its own specialties, such as Chongqing’s hot pot, Peking Duck, Shanghai’s pastries, Wuhan’s crayfish... There are many, many delicious dishes. You are welcome to come to China after the pandemic and leave me a message to ask me for recommendations.
