Caelan Moriarty de INTERSECTION acaba de sorprendernos con su nueva etapa, en esta ocasión en solitario con su single debut "Forever With You". El tema fue a principios de octubre y está disponible en las plataformas digitales.
Un trabajo que ha presentado en inglés y chino. Un tema en el que ha participado j.Que, el superproductor nominado al Grammy. Además el propio Caelan co-escribió la versión en chino de la letra y diseñó la portada. ¡Nunca para de sorprendernos!
Este debut en solitario llega tras su gran la ascendente popularidad de Caelan. La cual no ha parado de crecer desde su aparición en 2021 en el programa de audiciones de Tencent Chuang 2021, donde consiguió enamorar al público con su talento y su única personalidad. El programa tuvo aproximadamente 5 mil millones de visitas y la cuenta de Caelan en Weibo acumula 1.77 millones de seguidores.

¡En BA NA NA estamos muy felices de poder entrevistarte en este lanzamiento en solitario Caelan! ¡Es un gran honor! “Forever With You” es tu primer single en solitario. ¿Qué significa “Forever With You” para ti? ¿Qué quieres expresar con este trabajo?
“Forever With You” es una canción especial para mí ya que es mi primer single en solitario. Todo sobre la canción, el ambiente, el video musical y el tono realmente ayuda a presentar mi espíritu libre y el “buen rollo” de mi personalidad. “Forever With You” es también un regalo para los fans, para recodarles que no importa qué siempre los voy a tener en mi mente, nunca olvidaré todo lo que han hecho por mí y que siempre estaré con ellos.
In BA NA NA we are very happy to be able to interview you on this solo release Caelan! It's such an honor! "Forever With You" is your debut solo single. What does "Forever With You" mean to you? What do you want to express with this work?“Forever With You” is a special song to me as it is my first solo single ever. Everything about the song, the vibe, the music video, and the tone really helps present my free spiritedness, and my “good-vibes” personality. “Forever With You” is also a gift for the fans to remind them no matter what I will always have them in my mind, I will never forget everything they have done for me, and that I will forever be with them.
Este año has estado muy ocupado y has tenido muchas experiencias nuevas, como participar en un programa de audiciones o trabajar en China. ¿Cómo describirías este año?
Definitivamente describiría toda mi experiencia aquí en China como transformadora. Mi vida ahora es totalmente diferente a la que tenía en Japón antes del programa. Afortunadamente, con esta nueva experiencia he desarrollado muchas más habilidades, he ganado más aprecio por la vida y ahora tengo un motivo y un propósito.
This year you have been very busy and have many new experiences such as participating in an audition show or working in China. How would you describe this year?I would definitely describe my whole experience here in China as very transformative. My life now is completely different from the one I had in Japan before the show. Thankfully with this new experience I’ve developed many more skills, gained more appreciation of life, and now I have a motive and purpose.
También participaste en la letra de la canción y diseñaste la portada. ¿Cómo fue el proceso creativo para ello?
Aunque estuve involucrado solo ayudé un poco con la letra, los escritores de la canción merecen el verdadero crédito ya que es su talento y donde radica su profesión. Tuve la suerte de trabajar con ellos y presentar sus letras a mi manera, al mismo tiempo que ofrecía el tipo de historia que se puede ver en ella. Para el vídeo musical y la portada me inspiré en obras que había visto hace mucho tiempo y las adapte a mi mismo, lo cual fue genial para presentar. La canción me permitió imaginar muchas imágenes y no pude evitar intentar mostrarlas, sentía que solo estas podían representar la canción.
You also participated in the lyrics of the song and also designed the cover art. How was the creative process for it?Although I was involved I only helped a little with the lyrics, the writers of the song deserve the real credit as this is their talent and where their profession lies. I was fortunate enough to work with them and deliver their lyrics in my own way while also still delivering the sort of story that can be seen in it. For the music video and cover art, I gained inspiration from works I’ve seen long ago and I sort of adapted them into my own which was cool to present. The song let me imagine lots of visuals and I couldn’t help but try to show these visions I had because I felt only these visions could represent this song.
No nos podemos sacar de la cabeza “Forever With You”, y es que para esta canción tuviste la oportunidad de trabajar con un increíble equipo de composición y producción. ¿Cómo fue la experiencia?
Me sentí muy honrado de trabajar con un equipo tan increíble de composición y producción, ya que pude aprender de ellos y ver desde esta perspectiva cómo trabaja un artista en las canciones.
We can't get "Forever With You" out of our heads, and it's that for this song you had the opportunity to work with an amazing team of songwriting and production. How was the experience?I felt so honored to work with such an amazing team of songwriting and production as I was able to learn from them and see from this perspective of how an artist works on songs.
¡En este lanzamiento sorprendiste a tus fans con dos versiones de la canción, una en inglés ("Forever With You") y otra en chino ("去依赖")! ¿Cómo fue trabajar en dos versiones de la canción en diferentes idiomas?
Estaba tan feliz de que me permitieran hacer dos versiones porque quería que tanto los fans internacionales como los chinos disfrutaran por igual de la canción y se sintieran igualmente conectados conmigo. Trabajé muy duro en mis pronunciaciones en chino porque quería que los fans chinos realmente entendieran la letra y vieran cuánto trabajé para mejorar mi chino. También esperaba que no importe donde actúe los fans puedan cantar conmigo. Ojalá algún día pueda incorporar algunas letras en español a mis canciones, pero tengo que perfeccionar la pronunciación para evitar cualquier vergüenza.
In this release you surprised your fans with two versions of the song, one in English ("Forever With You") and another in Chinese ("去依 赖 ")! How was it working in two versions of the song in different languages?I was so happy that I was allowed to do two versions because I wanted both international fans and Chinese fans to equally enjoy the song and to feel equally connected with me. I worked really hard on my Chinese pronunciations because I wanted Chinese fans to really understand the lyrics and to see how hard I worked on improving my Chinese. I also hoped that no matter where I perform the fans would be able to sing along with me. Hopefully someday I can incorporate some Spanish lyrics into my songs, but I have to perfect the pronunciation to avoid any cringe.
¿Cómo definirías tu música? ¿Hay algún tipo de sonido que te gustaría probar en un futuro?
Es difícil de decir ya que solo tengo una canción, pero mi plan ahora es probar tantos géneros como pueda para ver con cuál me siento más cómodo. Como me gusta el hip hop espero poder hacer más canciones de hip hop, pero ahora es difícil decir que quiero exactamente porque mis preferencias siempre cambian.
How would you define your music? Is there any kind of sound that you would like to try in the future?It’s hard to say since I only have one song out now, but my plan now is to try as many genres as I can to see what I am most comfortable with. Since I like hip hop I hope I can make more hip hop songs, but it’s hard to say now what exactly I want because my preferences always change.
También nos presentaste increíbles vídeos musicales para el trabajo. ¿Hay algún concepto o nueva faceta que te gustaría mostrar a tus fans?
Para este vídeo musical no quería presentar una nueva faceta, solo quería mostrar más. Tener finalmente la oportunidad de mostrar más de mi mismo me motivó a aprovechar esta oportunidad que he estado esperando y enseñar todo lo que tengo. Pero espero que en el futuro pueda hacer vídeos musicales más interesantes y mostrar diferentes lados de mí porque entiendo que los fans disfrutan viendo lo versátil que puedo ser.
You also presented us with incredible music videos for the work. Is there any concept or new face that you would like to show to your fans?For this music video I didn’t want to show a new face, I just wanted to show more of it. To finally have the chance to show more myself motivated me to finally use this opportunity that I’ve been wanting to have and showing my all. But I do hope in the future to do more interesting music videos and show different sides of me because I understand the fans enjoy seeing how versatile I can be.
¿Tienes alguna inspiración o referencia en la música? ¿Te gustaría colaborar con algún artista? ¡Dinos algunos nombres! (nacional o internacional)
Me inspiro en mi propio gusto musical. Así que cualquier canción que atraiga mi oído es el tipo de canción que haré. Pero como dije, mis preferencias siempre cambian así que me resulta un poco difícil responder con una referencia exacta en mi gusto musical.
¡Me encantaría hacer colaboraciones! Siempre ha sido un sueño mío colaborar con grandes artistas como Justin Bieber, Chase Atlantic, Frank Ocean, Majid Jordan, RIch Brian, etc. Pero no mantengo mis esperanzas muy altas porque entiendo que es algo imposible. En cambio, solo espero escuchar algún día una oferta de algún artista de mi agrado y que quiera trabajar conmigo. Incluso con INTERSECTION, siempre me imagino como sería si pudiéramos colaborar con otros grupos como Why Don’t We y PrettyMuch.
Do you have any inspirations or references in music? Would you like to collaborate in the future with any artists? Tell us some names! (national or international)I’m inspired by my own music taste. So whatever song that attracts my ear is the song I will make. But as I said, my preferences always change so I find it a little difficult for me to answer an exact reference to my music taste.I would love to do collaboration work! It’s always been a dream of mine to collaborate with a big artist like Jusitn Bieber, Chase Atlantic, Frank Ocean, Majid Jordan, RIch Brian etc. But I don’t keep my hopes up as I understand that’s kind of impossible. Instead, I just hope to one day hear the offer that an artist of my liking would want to work with me. Even with INTERSECTION I would always imagine what it would be like if we were able to collaborate with other groups like Why Don’t We and PrettyMuch.
¡Durante este tiempo te hemos visto trabajar duro no solo en la música sino en aprender chino! ¿Tienes algunos consejos para la gente que está aprendiendo chino?
Hasta ahora los consejos de los que más me he beneficiado han sido escuchar, ver vídeos y hablar con staff y amigos. Me gusta estar en un entorno donde solo haya hablantes nativos de chino porque, aunque no pueda entenderlo, trato de que mi cerebro se acostumbre a los tonos y la pronunciación de las palabras, ya que la pronunciación es mi mayor complicación. También veo muchos vídeos en línea de personas que saben cómo enseñar a extranjeros como yo, lo que me ayuda a comprender mejor. Por último, cualquier oportunidad que tenga para hablar o enviar mensajes de texto en chino a mis amigos y al staff, lo hago. Todos los días estoy aprendiendo y, aunque parezca lento, sé que estoy progresando mucho. Como dicen, Roma no se construyó en un día.
During all this time we have seen you work hard not only in music but in learning Chinese! Do you have any tips for people that are learning Chinese?So far the tips I benefit from the most are listening, watching videos, and chatting with staff and friends. I like to be in an environment where it’s only native Chinese speaking because although I can’t understand it, I try to get my brain used to the tones and pronunciation of words as pronunciation is my biggest struggle. I also watch a lot of videos online from people who know how to teach foreigners as myself, which helps me understand better. Lastly, any chance I get to speak or text in Chinese to my friends and staff, I do it. Everyday I am learning, and although it may appear slow I know I am making a lot of progress. As they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Hemos podido verte en INTERSECTION, en Chuang 2021 y también en solitario, ¿cuál dirías que es la mayor diferencia entre trabajar en un grupo y como solista? ¿Sientes más presión estando solo?
Es difícil de decir ya que creo que INTERSECTION no es solo un grupo común, somos familia. Así que poder trabajar con ellos fue muy divertido, y fui capaz de crecer y aprender de todos, lo que también me inspiró a trabajar duro todos los días. Sin embargo, en un grupo a veces sentimos que no hemos mostrado suficiente de nosotros mismos, y aunque disfrutamos presentando algo en lo que hemos trabajado juntos, una parte de nosotros también quiere mostrar más. Así que con esta oportunidad en solitario finalmente puedo hacer eso, hacer las cosas que en INTERSECTION no haría. Pero algo que aprendí rápido al comenzar este camino en solitario es que hay más presión. No siempre puedo confiar en la ayuda de mis hermanos, y tengo que enfrentar la presión yo solo. Antes de salir al escenario mis nervios se calmaban porque me relajaba pensando que los demás estaban nerviosos conmigo, pero ahora tengo que enfrentarme a ello solo. Por muy aterrador que parezca sé que es algo bueno para mí, lo necesito para crecer y aprender a no depender de los demás todo el tiempo. Incluso con mis trabajos en solitario, me siento orgulloso de decir que soy parte del grupo INTERSECTION y anticipo más cosas con ellos en un futuro.
We have been able to see you in INTERSECTION, in Chuang 2021 and also solo, what would you say is the biggest difference between working as a group and as a solo artist? Do you feel more pressure being solo?It is hard to say since I believe INTERSECTION isn’t just an ordinary group, we’re family. So to be able to work with them was so much fun, and I was able to grow and learn from everyone which also inspired me to work hard everyday. However, in a group we sometimes don’t feel it is enough to show more of ourselves, and although we enjoyed presenting something that we’ve worked together on, a part of us also wants to show more. So with this solo opportunity I am finally able to do that, to do the things INTERSECTION wouldn’t. But something I’ve quickly learned when starting this solo path is there's more pressure. I can’t always rely on my brother's help, and I have to face the pressure all by myself. Before the stage, my nerves would calm down because I would feel relaxed knowing the others were nervous with me, but now I have to face it alone. As scary as it sounds I know this is good for me, I need this to really grow and learn to not depend on others all the time. Even with my solo works, I am still proud to say that I am part of this group INTERSECTION and look forward to more stuff with them in the future.
¿Tienes algunos talentos o pasatiempos que nos puedas contar? ¿Qué haces en tu tiempo libre para relajarte?
Disfruto llamando a mis amigos y a mi familia. Me ayudan a motivarme y me inspiran a seguir trabajando duro, incluso en momentos difíciles. También disfruto yendo al gimnasio a pesar de que mi cuerpo no esta en su forma ideal. Me encanta también ver películas y programas de televisión. Aparte de quedarme dentro me gusta ir fuera y salir con amigos que he hecho aquí. Si tuviera la oportunidad iría a jugar al golf ya que solía ser uno de mis pasatiempos.
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies that you can tell us about? What do you do in your free time to relax?I enjoy calling my friends and family. They help motivate me and inspire me to keep working hard, even when times get tough. I also enjoy going to the gym even though my body isn’t in its ideal shape. I also love watching movies and TV shows. Other than staying inside I like going out and hanging out with my friends that I’ve made here. If I got the chance to, I would also go golfing, since that used to be one of my hobbies.
¿Qué podemos esperar del futuro Caelan? ¿Tienes algún proyecto que nos puedas contar o algún sueño que te gustaría alcanzar?
El futuro Caelan espera lanzar más canciones, colaborar con más marcas de moda y con suerte unirse a algunos programas de variedades una vez que mi chino mejore. También espero ser parte de una película o un drama, ya que siempre he querido intentar actuar.
What can we expect from the future Caelan? Do you have a project that you can tell us or dreams that you would like to achieve?Future Caelan hopes to release more songs, collaborate with more fashion brands and hopefully join some variety shows once my Chinese gets better. I also really hope to be a part of a film or drama since I’ve always wanted to try acting.
Ambos tú en solitario como INTERSECTION tienen una base de fans muy internacional. Muchos de vuestros seguidores son de Latinoamérica o España, ¿puedes enviarles un saludo?
Solo quiero agradecer a todos por el apoyo. Es increíble escuchar que INTERSECTION y yo tenemos fans de todo el mundo, ¡especialmente de España y América Latina! No estoy seguro si todo el mundo lo sabe, ¡pero en realidad solía vivir en España y lo extraño mucho! Espero ir de nuevo y tal vez llevar a INTERSECTION a las ferias. También espero visitar América Latina, especialmente con Oscar ya que hablamos de ello todo el tiempo.
Both you solo and INTERSECTION have a very international fan base. Many of your fans are from Latin America or Spain, can you send them a greeting?I just want to thank everyone for the support. It's amazing to hear that me and INTERSECTION have fans from all over the world, especially from Spain and Latin America! Not sure if everyone knows, but I actually used to live in Spain and I miss it so much! I hope to visit there again and maybe take INTERSECTION to the ferias. I also hope to visit Latin America, especially with Oscar since we talk about it all the time.
