Sani, Kihoon, Namhyun, Junyong y Jungmo son los integrantes de Catch The Young, una nueva banda surcoreana que ha hecho su espectacular debut bajo Evermore Entertainment. El grupo está lleno de talento y su mini álbum trae un sonido youth pop rock que te conquistará por completo.

Antes que nada, felicidades por vuestro increíble debut. ¿Cómo os sentís ahora, Catch The Young? ¿Ha sido un largo camino hasta que debutásteis?
Namhyun: ¡Gracias! Nos llevó bastante tiempo hasta debutar, pero finalmente pudimos debutar y compartir nuestra música. Estamos muy emocionados y felices de poder conocer a mucha gente a través de ello.
First of all, congratulations on your amazing debut. How do you feel right now, Catch The Young? Has it been a long road until you made your debut?Namhyun: Thank you! While we had taken different amounts of time till we debuted, we were finally able to debut and share our music. We are excited and happy to meet many people.
Antes de empezar a hablar de vuestra música y vuestro increíble talento. ¿Qué significado hay detrás de vuestro nombre Catch The Young? ¿Qué queréis transmitir a vuestros fans?
Kihoon: "Catch the Young" significa transmitir energía e historias relacionadas con la juventud. Muestra nuestra determinación de transmitir simpatía y energía sobre la juventud a personas independientemente de su edad.
Before we start talking about your music and incredible talent. What meaning is there behind your name Catch The Young? What do you want to convey to your fans?Kihoon: "Catch the Young" means to deliver the energy and stories related to youth. It shows our determination to convey sympathy and energy about youth to people regardless of their age.
Nos habéis sorprendido a todos, tenéis un talento deslumbrante. No sólo tocas instrumentos o tienes una voz de otro mundo, sino que también componéis vuestras canciones. ¿Desde cuándo os interesa la música? ¿Cuándo os distéis cuenta de que queríais dedicaros a la música?
Sani: Todos nos involucramos en la música desde que éramos muy jóvenes. Yo, por ejemplo, encontré una banda de rock japonesa, ONE OK ROCK, cuando tenía 14 años. Quedé hipnotizado tan pronto como los vi y por eso comencé a tocar instrumentos. Comencé a escribir canciones de forma natural mientras tocaba instrumentos.
Kihoon: Mi interés por la música de bandas comenzó a partir de un drama televisivo que comencé a ver por coincidencia. Después de eso, comencé a tocar la guitarra y dejé los deportes que practicaba. Comencé a escribir música y acepté mi fe en la industria musical.
Namhyun: Solía encontrar consuelo escuchando la música de Park Hyo-shin. Siempre quise cantar como él y comencé a hacer música cuando me estaba preparando para ingresar a la universidad.
Junyong: Estuve cerca de la música desde que era pequeño, ya que aprendí piano. Me uní a la industria interpretando personajes infantiles en musicales.

You all have surprised us, you have dazzling talent. Not only do you play instruments or have an otherworldly voice, but you also compose your songs. Since when are you interested in music? When did you realize that you wanted to dedicate yourself to music?Sani: We all got into music when we were very young. I found a Japanese rock band, ONE OK ROCK, when I was 14 years old. I was mesmerized as soon as I saw them and started playing the instrument. I started writing songs naturally as I played instruments.Kihoon: My interest in band music started from the TV drama that I started watching by coincidence. After that, I started playing guitar as I quit the sports I played. I started writing music and accepted my faith in the music industry.Namhyun: I used to get consolation from listening to the music of Park Hyo-shin. I always wished to sing like him and started doing music when I was preparing for college admission.Junyong: I was close to music since I was little since I learned piano. I joined the industry as I played child characters in musicals.Jungmo: Compared to our members, I started music relatively late. I had an opportunity to play drums one time, and then I started going to auditions and ended up joining this group.

Sois un artista muy completo y llegáis cargados de fuerza a la industria musical, como ya hemos dicho. Pero si tuvieras que contarnos un reto en el que tienes que superaros aún más, ¿cuál sería? (por ejemplo: aprender a tocar nuevos instrumentos, producir...)
Kihoon: Quería bailar y actuar. Aprendí a bailar mientras preparábamos nuestro álbum, así que me gustaría intentar actuar ahora. Sería bueno si pudiera asistir a los programas de drama, pero creo que me ayudaría a actuar cuando filmemos videos musicales.
Sani: He probado muchos instrumentos excepto los de viento. Me gustaría intentar tocar la trompeta. Enriquecerá aún más nuestra música.
Junyong: Siento que mis habilidades todavía no son lo suficientemente buenas en comparación con las de nuestros miembros. Así que seguiré perfeccionando mis habilidades con el piano.
You are very complete artist and you come loaded with the strength to the music industry, as we have already said. But if you had to tell us a challenge you have to improve yourself even more, what would it be? (for example: learning to play new instruments, producing...)Kihoon: I wanted to do dance and acting. I have learned dance as we prepared our album, so I'd like to try acting now. It'd be nice if I could make it to the drama shows, but I think it would help me to act when we film music videos.Sani: I have tried many instruments except the wind instruments. I'd like to try playing the trumpet. It will enrich our music even more.Junyong: I feel like my skills are still not good enough compared to our members. So I will continue to master my skills on the piano.
Vuestro debut es con "Catch The Young: Fragments of Youth". ¿Qué podéis contarnos sobre el proceso de creación de esta obra?
Sani: Puede que no sea tan especial, pero algo que es a la vez una ventaja y una desventaja en nuestra empresa es tener un estudio en el lugar. Esto hace que la grabación y los ensayos sean extremadamente convenientes. La razón por la que esto puede ser una desventaja es porque podemos trabajar continuamente sin descanso. La desventaja de esto fue que, dada la naturaleza de nuestro equipo centrado en componer canciones originales, después de crear una pista, nos metíamos en un ciclo de revisiones interminables, probando cosas diferentes. Como resultado, algunas pistas tardaron aproximadamente un año y medio en terminarse. La mayoría de nuestras canciones pasaron por este proceso para estar en este álbum. No pudimos saltarnos ni un solo paso y tuvimos que remodelarlos y ajustarlos. Tenemos algunas canciones nuevas que están siguiendo el mismo proceso en este momento.
Your debut is with "Catch The Young: Fragments of Youth". Can you tell us about the process of creating this work?Sani: It might not be so special, but something that's both an advantage and a disadvantage in our company is having a studio on site. This makes recording and rehearsals extremely convenient. The reason why this can be a disadvantage is because we can work continuously without a break. The downside of it was that, given the nature of our team focusing on composing original songs, after creating a track, we got into a cycle of endless revisions, trying different things. As a result, some tracks took about a year and a half to finalize. Most of our songs underwent this process to be on this album. We could not skip a single step and had to reshape and tune them. We have some new songs that followed the same process right now.

Kihoon: Para mí, es "YOUTH!!!". Es una canción que marca el comienzo de nuestro viaje intrépido y audaz. También espero que la gente obtenga la fuerza para superar sus desafíos mientras escuchan nuestra música. Además, debido a que es una canción emocionante, te emocionará al escucharla.
Sani: Me gustaría recomendar "Cactus Boy". Es mi canción favorita de nuestro álbum debut. También creo que la gente estaría más familiarizada con "YOUTH!!!" ya que es nuestra canción principal. Por eso me gustaría recomendar "Cactus Boy".
Namhyun: También me gustaría recomendar "Cactus Boy", pero por una razón diferente. Este también es mi favorito de este álbum porque me encanta el solo de guitarra de Kihoon en esta canción. Es una canción sentimental en la que puedo sumergirme cuando canto. Luego me conmueve cuando escucho su riff solista.
Junyong: Para mí, sería "My Own Way". Como muestra el título, les dice a los oyentes que vivan la vida que quieran, que es similar a mis valores en la vida. Espero que mucha gente lo escuche.
Jungmo: Me gustaría recomendar "The Way To You". Me gusta escucharlo cuando quiero emocionarme.

It's a song that marks the beginning of our fearless and audacious journey. I also hope people gain the strength to overcome their challenges while listening to our music. Also, because it is an exciting song, it will make you excited as you listen to this song.Sani: I'd like to recommend "Cactus Boy." It is my favorite song from our debut album. I also believe people would be more familiar with "YOUTH!!!" since it is our title track. So, I'd like to recommend "Cactus Boy."Namhyun: I'd like to recommend "Cactus Boy" as well but for a different reason. This is also my favorite from this album because I love the guitar solo from Kihoon on this song. It is a sentimental song that I can immerse myself in when I sing. Then I get touched when I hear his solo riff.Junyong: For me, it'd be "My Own Way." As the title shows, it tells listeners to live the life they want to, which is similar to my values in life. I hope many people listen to it.Jungmo: I'd like to recommend "The Way To You." I like to listen to it when I want to get excited.
Siempre hacemos esta pregunta a nuestros entrevistados ya que nos encanta conocer curiosidades. ¿Tenéis algún talento oculto? (Cocina, deportes…)
Kihoon: Solía practicar deportes, así que soy bueno en la mayoría de ellos. Mis habilidades para patinar son especialmente sobresalientes.
Jungmo: Puedo cocinar. Preparé algunos platos para nuestros miembros varias veces, pero también quiero mostrar mis habilidades a nuestros fans. También tengo algunas licencias. No tienen que ver nada con la música, pero tengo cosas como una licencia de contabilidad computarizada o cosas relacionadas con trabajos de oficina.
Sani: Puede que algunos fans sepan esto, pero puedo personificar el sonido de instrumentos. Al ensayar sin instrumentos y sólo usando nuestra voz lo llamamos "Ipapju". Todos me dijeron lo bueno que era personificando el sonido con mi voz.
Namhyun: También practiqué deportes como Kihoon, pero de diferentes tipos. Solía aprender Muay Thai.
Junyong: Esto no es un talento sino un secreto que no quiero ocultar. Todavía estoy creciendo. Creo que seré más alto que Sani, que es el más alto del grupo en este momento.
We always ask this question to our interviewees since we love to know curiosities. Do you have any hidden talent? (Cooking, sports…)Kihoon: I used to play sports, so I am good at most of them. My rollerblading skills are especially outstanding.Jungmo: I can cook. I did make some dishes for our members a few times, but I want to show my skills to our fans too. I also have some licenses. They don't have to do anything with music, but I have things like a computerized accounting license or things related to office jobs.Sani: Some fans might know about this, but I can impersonate the instrumental sound. We call rehearsing without instruments and only using our voice "Ipapju." Everyone told me how great I was at impersonating the sound with my voice.Namhyun: I also played sports like Kihoon, but different types. I used to learn Muay Thai.Junyong: This is not a talent but a secret that I do not want to hide. I am still growing up. I believe I will get taller than Sani, who is the tallest in the group at the moment.

Acabáis de debutar por lo que os queda un largo camino por recorrer como Catch The Young. ¿Qué sueños os gustaría ver cumplidos como banda dentro de 1 año?
Sani: Nos gustaría ganar el premio "Rookie of The Year" y obtener el título de banda súper global.
Kihoon: "¡Ha debutado una nueva banda global! Banda súper global, Catch the Young", es algo que deseo escuchar. Nuestro objetivo, que probablemente sea difícil de lograr con esta promoción, es entrar en el Billboard Hot 100.
Namhyun: Puede que sea difícil ahora, pero queremos estar en escenarios globales como Lollapalooza. Un año antes de esa etapa, nos gustaría hacer una gira por Asia, Europa, Centro y Sudamérica.
You have just debuted but you have a long way to go as Catch The Young. What dreams would you like to see fulfilled as a band within 1 year?
Sani: We'd like to win "Rookie of the Year" award and get the title of super global band.Kihoon: "New global band has debuted! Super global band, Catch the Young," is something I wish to hear. Our goal, which is probably hard to achieve with this promotion, is to get into the Billboard Hot 100.Namhyun: It might be hard right now, but we want to be on global stages like Lollapalooza. One year before that stage, we'd like to tour Asia, Europe, and Central and South America.
