El pasado 1 de septiembre del 2023, KARD hizo vibrar Madrid con su concierto bajo su nuevo tour PLAYGROUND. Un show increíble que volvió a unirnos con sus fans Europeos tras una larga espera, y todo gracias a ROOT Company y OfficialKEvents.
BA NA NA tuvo el honor de hablar con KARD antes de iniciar su tour por Europa y ya podemos compartir con vosotros sus emociones, sueños y planes futuros para el grupo.

J.seph - Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que hicimos gira europea en 2017. Estoy muy emocionado porque ha pasado tiempo desde que vi a mis fans europeos. No puedo esperar a verlos, tanto los que van a conocernos por primera vez como los que no nos han visto en un tiempo.
Somin - Últimamente estoy pasando un buen momento. El album ‘ICKY’ ha recibido mucho amor, así que hemos sido capaces de realizar esta gira con mucha energía. Quiero acabar la gira europea bien con un buen intercambio de energía con los fans.
First of all, congratulations on your comeback and this wonderful tour. How do you feel currently? Do you feel strong and energetic with your new projects?
J.seph - It’s been a long time since we've done a European tour in 2017. I’m really excited that it's been a while since I've seen my European fans. I can't wait to meet them, both those who will meet us for the first time and those who haven't seen us in a while.
Somin - I've been having a really good time lately. The 'ICKY' album received a lot of love, so we were able to do this tour with a lot of energy. I want to finish the European Tour well with a good energy exchange with the fans.
No es vuestra primera vez en Europa o España, ya os vimos en Madrid en 2017. ¿Cuáles son las diferencias entre el KARD de 2017 y el KARD actual?
BM - Nuevas canciones, actuaciones mejoradas, una presencia escénica más fuerte y madura. Siento que nuestra música y actuaciones como grupo y como artistas individuales han ido mejorando que cuando éramos rookies.
Jiwoo - Hay una gran diferencia. Creo que encontraréis que KARD mucho más maduro ahora de lo que era en 2017. Nuestras canciones son más diversas. Estoy segura de que nuestros fans de Madrid más longevos lo amarán.
This is not your first time in Europe or in Spain, we saw you in Madrid in 2017. What differences are there between KARD of 2017 and the KARD of now?
BM - New tracks, improved performances, stronger and matured stage presence. I feel like our music and performances as a group and individual artists has been curated much better than when we were rookies.
Jiwoo - There is a huge difference. I think you'll find that KARD is much more advanced now than it was in 2017. Our songs have gotten a lot more diverse. I'm sure that our long-time Madrid fans will love it.
Una gira siempre es un gran reto para los artistas. ¿Actualmente cuál es vuestro reto más grande cuando hacéis conciertos? ¿Estáis disfrutando cada show y viviendo grandes momentos?
Somin - Me impresiono en cada concierto. ¡Nuestros fans nos aman más de lo que podríamos imaginar o darnos cuenta! Estamos muy agradecidos con nuestros fans que viajan largas distancias para vernos actuar y sacan tiempo de su día para estar con nosotros. Quiero que mis actuaciones os hagan sentir que esas horas nunca fueron en vano.
Jiwoo - Tengo mucha curiosidad de ver si Europa nos recibirá de vuelta tras esta larga ausencia, me preocupa un poco. Si el tiempo lo permite, también me gustaría echa un vistazo. Porque realmente amo Europa.
A tour is always a great challenge for artists. What is your biggest current challenge when it comes to doing concerts? Are you enjoying each show and living great moments?
Somin - I'm blown away at every concert. Our fans love us more than we could ever imagine or realize! We're grateful that our fans, who travel long distances to see us perform, take time out of their day to be with us. I want my performances to make you feel like those hours were never in vain.
Jiwoo - I'm very curious to see if Europe will welcome me back after a long absence, I’m a little bit worried. If time permits, I'd also like to take a look around. Because I really love Europe.
Estáis preparando sorpresas para cada país o para la gira en general? ¿Veremos algo único por parte de KARD?
BM - ¡Tenemos un par preparadas para los fans que enseñaremos en el escenario!
J.seph - Creo que va a ser divertido ver a las units de KARD volver a actuar en esta gira. Creo que tanto la actuación de Somin y Jiwoo como la mía con BM conseguirán llegar a nuestros fans de una forma diferente y refrescante.
Are you preparing surprises for each country or for this tour in general? Will we see something unique from KARD?
BM - We have a couple ready for the fans that we will be showcasing on stage!
J.seph - I think it's going to be fun to see the units perform again on this tour. I think Somin and Jiwoo’s performance as well as BM and I’s performance will be able to reach our fans in a different and refreshing way.
¿Qué canción o momento del show os gusta más?
BM - Aunque tenemos muchas canciones en la setlist que los fans anticipan, ‘CAKE’ es una de mis favoritas para actuar. La energía es muy diferente.
Somin - ¡Amo el momento justo antes de la primera canción! Me pongo nerviosa y emocionada a la vez. También me siento curiosa sobre los fans que van a estar ahí. En el momento en que las luces se encienden, ellos nos animan y me hace muy feliz ser capaz de verlos felices.
What is the song or moment of the show that you like the most?
BM - As more of the highly anticipated songs on the setlist, ‘CAKE’ is one of my favourites to perform. The reciprocation of energy is very different.
Somin - I love the moment right before the first song! I get nervous and excited at the same time. I also get curious about the fans that will be there. The moment the lights come on, they cheer for us and it makes me so happy to see them so happy.
¿Y para vuestros fans? ¿Qué canción cantáis o bailáis más?
J.seph - Ya que es una actuación en vivo, priorizamos las canciones que todos pueden disfrutar y saltar con ellas. Siempre estamos intentando pintar una imagen de una actuación que todos podamos disfrutar.
Jiwoo - ‘Dimelo’. ‘Dimelo’ es una canción que realmente le gusta a mucha gente. Debatimos si debíamos quitarla o no de la setlist, pero los fans la aman tanto que la mantuvimos en ella.
And for your fans? What song do you sing or dance the most?
J.seph - Since it’s a live performance, we prioritise songs that everyone can enjoy and jump around to. We’re always trying to paint a picture of a performance that we can all enjoy.
Jiwoo - 'Dimelo'. 'Dimelo' is a song that a lot of people really really like. We debated whether or not to leave it off the setlist, but the fans loved it so much that we kept it in.
KARD acaba de hacer su comeback con ‘ICKY’ tras mucho tiempo esperando. ¿Qué es lo que más os gusta de volver con música nueva?
BM - En particular esta vez hemos sido capaces de dar mucho más aporte e incorporarlo más en comparación a todos nuestros comebacks- haciendo que este sea uno de los álbumes del que estamos más orgullosos.
Jiwoo - ¡‘ICKY’ fue mi favorito porque es algo nuevo que no perdió ninguno de los colores únicos de KARD!
KARD just made their comeback with ‘ICKY’ after a long time of waiting. What do you like the most about coming back with new music?
BM - This time particularly we were able to give much more input and have it be incorporated the most in comparison to all of our comebacks- making it one of albums we are more proud of.
Jiwoo - 'ICKY' was my favourite because it was something new and didn't lose any of KARD's unique colours!
¿Seremos capaces de disfrutar de nueva música pronto después de ‘ICKY’?
J.seph - Ese es nuestro objetivo también. No puedo esperar para compartir una nueva canción con vosotros tan pronto como sea posible. Siempre estamos intentando dar lo mejor de nosotros. ¡Seguiremos trabajando duro!
Somin - No puedo decir con seguridad cuando saldrá, pero hemos estamos hablando y guardando canciones desde que ‘ICKY’ fue lanzado. Pondremos todo junto y volveremos rápido.
Will we be able to enjoy new music soon after ‘ICKY’?
J.seph - That's our goal, too. I can't wait to share another new song with you as soon as possible. We always have to keep trying our best. We’ll keep working hard!
Somin - I can't say for sure when it's coming out, but we've been talking and collecting songs ever since 'ICKY' was released. We’ll put it all together and we’ll come back in flash.
¿Cuál es el sueño que KARD necesita cumplir?
BM - ¡Solo ser capaces de seguir viviendo la vida de artistas hasta que muramos!
J.seph - Creo que la meta más cercana es ganar el primer puesto en un programa de música. Quiero separar nuestras metas en pequeños pasos.
Somin - ¡El mío es el largo plazo! Entre más hacíamos, más me daba cuenta de que podíamos estar aquí un largo tiempo. Para hacerlo, tengo que asegurarme de que no me consumo y que me cuido física y emocionalmente para no decepcionarme a mí misma. Seguiré cantando buena música.
Jiwoo - Un grupo mixto a largo plazo, un grupo con alta potencia, o un grupo de cuatro solistas
What is the dream that KARD has to fulfill?
BM - Just to be able to continue to live the lives of artists until we die!
J.seph - I think the closest goal is to win first place in a music show. I want to break down our goals into smaller steps.
Somin - Minę is the long run! The more we did, the more I realised that we could be around for a long time. To do that, I have to make sure that I don't burn out and that I take care of myself physically and emotionally so that I don't disappoint myself. I’ll keep singing good music.
Jiwoo - A long-running mixed group, a high-powered group, or a group of four solo acts.
¿Podéis decir algunas palabras para vuestros fans en España que van a veros en el concierto?
BM - Muchas gracias a todos por esperar 6 años por nosotros. No podemos esperar a aparecer ante todos vosotros y compartir nuestro amor con vosotros❤️
Somin - ¡Estoy muy emocionada y no puedo esperar para veros! Por fin nos podemos ver. Espero que podamos tener un gran rato feliz juntos, y gracias por todo el amor. Espero que os esté yendo genial y os amo ❤️.
Can you say a few words to your fans in Spain who will see you in concert?
BM - Thank you all so much for waiting 6 years for us. We can't wait to turn up with you all and share our love with you❤️
Somin - I'm so excited and can't wait to see it! We can finally meet. I hope we can have a really happy time together, and thank you for all the love. I hope you're all doing great and I love you ❤️.
