En BA NA NA celebramos el regreso de WEi con una entrevista en exclusiva, en la que hablamos de sus inicios, evolución, nuevos trabajos y sus grandes desafíos para 2023.

Daehyeon, Donghan, Yongha, Yohan, Seokhwa y Junseo han vuelto como WEi con Love Pt.3 : Eternally, el sexto mini álbum del grupo con el tema principal OVERDRIVE. Y para celebrarlo en BA NA NA hemos tenido el honor de entrevistar a Wei.

En primer lugar, es un honor para nosotros poder entrevistar a WEi, un grupo al que hemos estado siguiendo desde el principio. ¿Cómo se siente saber que tienes un gran apoyo desde diferentes partes del mundo?
DAE HYEON: Muchas gracias por el apoyo internacional. Esperamos verte en muchas giras y conciertos. ¡Muchas gracias por su atención!
YONG HA: Es fascinante saber que muchas personas en muchos países nos reconocen y escuchan nuestras canciones. Estoy muy agradecido por esto.
First of all, it is an honor for us to be able to interview WEi, a group that we have been following since the very beginning. How does it feel to know that you have this support from different sides of the world?DAE HYEON: Thank you so much for the international support. We hope to see you through many tours and concerts. Thank you so much for your attention!YONG HA: It's fascinating to know that many people in many countries recognize us and listen to our songs. I am very thankful for this.
WEi ha estado activo desde vuestro debut en 2020, y en este tiempo hemos podido veros crecer profesionalmente. ¡Vuestra evolución es tan asombrosa! ¿Cómo han sido estos años en activo? ¿Cómo ha sido la evolución del WEi de 2020 para convertirse en el WEi de 2023?
DONG HAN: A medida que pasan los años nuestro trabajo en equipo mejora y hemos mejorado como personas que pueden desempeñarse mejor.
SEOK HWA: Al trabajar duro y superar desafíos, hemos mejorado como artistas que pueden expresar mejor la identidad de WEi.
WEi have been active since your debut in 2020, and in this time we have been able to see you grow up professionally. Your evolution is so amazing! How have these years been active? How has 2020 WEi evolved to become the WEi of 2023?DONG HAN: As years go by, our teamwork is getting better and we have improved as people who can perform better.SEOK HWA: By working hard and overcoming challenges, we have improved as artists who can express WEi's identity better.

DAE HYEON: Mejor amigo

Vuestra discografía se puede dividir en 2 eras. La era de la IDENTITY y la era de LOVE. ¿Qué diferencias podemos notar entre estos proyectos y trabajos?
YO HAN: Mientras que la serie IDENTITY eran álbumes que buscaban la identidad musical de WEi, creo que la serie LOVE muestra la música de WEi. Los oyentes pueden conectarse con nosotros a través de estas presentación.
Your discography can be divided into 2 eras. The IDENTITY era and LOVE era. What differences can we notice between these projects and jobs?YO HAN: While the IDENTITY series were albums that sought WEi's musical identity, I think the LOVE series shows WEi's music. The listeners can connect with us through these releases.
En este momento WEi está en la era LOVE y regresa con Love Pt.3: Eternally. ¿Cómo describirías este lanzamiento? ¿Qué tan diferente es de las otras partes de esta trilogía?
SEOK HWA: "Love PT.3: Eternally" es el último álbum de la serie LOVE. Los dos lanzamientos anteriores mostraban el primer amor y el amor apasionado respectivamente, mientras que este álbum se enfoca en 'amarte a ti mismo' y 'amarse el uno al otro'.
Right now WEi are in the LOVE era and you will make your comeback with Love Pt.3 : Eternally. How would you describe this release? How different is it from the other parts of this trilogy?SEOK HWA: "Love PT.3 : Eternally" is the final album of the LOVE series. The previous two releases depicted first love and passionate love respectively, while this album focuses on 'loving yourself' and 'loving each other'.
"OVERDRIVE" es vuestra nueva canción principal. ¿Qué creéis que hace que esta canción sea tan única? ¿Y qué mensaje le quieres dar a todos los fans?
SEOK HWA: El mensaje que queremos transmitir a través de esta canción es amarte a ti mismo encontrándote a ti mismo. Además, deseamos que se pueda convertir en una persona que pueda compartir el amor con sus seres queridos.
"OVERDRIVE" is your new title track. What do you think makes this song so unique? And what message do you want to tell to all the fans?SEOK HWA: The message we want to convey through this song is to love yourself by finding yourself. Moreover, we wish you to become a person who can share the love with your precious ones.
En "OVERDRIVE" nos mostráis un increíble ritmo de baile y sonidos de guitarra, WEi siempre nos sorprende con nueva música y estilos... Pero si tienes que elegir un género musical que te guste más interpretar, ¿cuál sería y por qué?
YO HAN: Música fresca de banda, porque nos sienta bien.
JUN SEO: Me encantaría probar varios géneros, especialmente algo futuristic. Es un sonido que personalmente me gusta y creo que las voces de WEi combinarán bien con sonidos futuristas.
In "OVERDRIVE" you show us an amazing dance beat and guitar sounds, WEi are always surprising us with new music and styles… But if you have to choose a music genre that you like the most to perform, what would it be and why?YO HAN: Fresh band music because that suits us well.JUN SEO: I would love to try various genres, especially something futuristic. It's a sound I personally like and I think WEi's voices will blend well with futuristic sounds.
Si tuvieras que elegir una canción de vuestro nuevo álbum, "Love Pt.3 : Eternally", ¿cuál elegiríais?
DAE HYEON: Es "OVERDRIVE". Es fácil de escuchar y también visualmente divertido.
DONG HAN: Es "Be Alright (chillin')". El ritmo te anima, por lo que es genial con la coreografía.
YONG HA: ¡Es "OVERDRIVE"! Sabrás por qué en el momento en que lo escuches❤
YO HAN: Es "End of The Day" ¡Me encanta la melodia y la letra!
SEOK HWA: Estoy muy apegado a "OVERDRIVE". Creo que la canción expresa lo que es WEi muy bien.
JUN SEO: Creo que "OVERDRIVE" revela mejor nuestro color. Esta canción refleja bien la forma en que siempre perseguimos nuestros sueños.
If you had to choose a song from your new album, "Love Pt.3 : Eternally", which one would you choose?DAE HYEON: It's "OVERDRIVE". It's easy to listen to and also visually fun.DONG HAN: It's "Be Alright (chillin')". The beat pumps you up so it'll be really cool with the performance.YONG HA: It's "OVERDRIVE"! You’ll know why the moment you listen to it❤YO HAN: It's "End of The Day". I love the melody and the lyrics!SEOK HWA: I'm really attached to "OVERDRIVE". I think the song expresses WEi well.JUN SEO: I think the title song "OVERDRIVE" reveals our color the best. This song reflects well the way we always pursue our dreams.
Esta pregunta siempre la hacemos a nuestros entrevistados ya que nos encanta saber curiosidades. ¿Tenéis algún talento oculto?
DAE HYEON: Me encanta ver fútbol y escribir canciones.
DONG HAN: Puedo cocinar casi cualquier cosa y también solía hacer hapkido.
YONG HA: ¡No tengo ningún talento especial pero quiero adquirir uno!
YO HAN: Me gusta cocinar arroz frito o sopa de kimchi de atún. Mis habilidades culinarias están mejorando.
SEOK HWA: Mi talento es captar los puntos musicales esenciales después de observar los contenidos musicales.
JUN SEO: ¡Hago mucho ejercicio y puedo hacer beatbox!
We always ask this question to our interviewees since we love to know curiosities. Do you have any hidden talent? (Cooking, sports, playing instruments…)DAE HYEON: I love watching soccer and writing songs.DONG HAN: I can cook mostly anything and also I used to do hapkido.YONG HA: I don't have any special talents but I want to acquire one!YO HAN: I like to cook fried rice or tuna kimchi soup. My cooking skills are improving.SEOK HWA: My talent is catching the essential musical points after observing musical contents.JUN SEO: I work out a lot and I can beatbox!
2023 será un año increíble para WEi (¡estamos seguros de ello!). Pero, ¿cuáles son vuestras metas o sueños para este año?
YONG HA: ¡Subir en las listas! Espero que mucha gente ame cada canción de este álbum este año.
2023 is going to be an amazing year for WEi (we are sure about it!). But, what are your goals or dreams for this year?YONG HA: To rush into the charts! I hope many people love every song on this album this year.
