The Rose visitó Barcelona el 19 de febrero de 2023 cerrando la primera parte de su HEAL TOGETHER TOUR y antes de su esperado concierto, en BA NA NA pudimos hablar con Woosung, Jaehyeong, Dojoon y Hajoon en una entrevista en exclusiva.
Durante la entrevista, The Rose nos contó sus sensaciones sobre la gira, su último trabajo, sus próximos proyectos y les acompañamos a un viaje al pasado para hacer una comparativa de su última visita a España con esta a Barcelona cinco años después.

Los entresijos de la sala Razzmatazz de Barcelona nos dejaron conocer en profundidad a los chicos de The Rose, que nos esperaban en el camerino para recibirnos mientras ultimaban los detalles de su concierto en Barcelona. Nos reservaron su tiempo para poder responder a nuestras preguntas y estuvimos hablando con ellos durante su pasado, presente y futuro musical.
Woosung, Jaehyeong, Dojoon y Hajoon nos contaron cómo vivieron el proceso de creación de HEAL, cómo han cambiado desde su última visita a España en 2018, cuáles son sus próximos proyectos y tuvieron unas palabras llenas de cariño hacia sus fans de España.

En primer lugar. Es un placer tener a The Rose aquí en España y poder entrevistaros. ¿Cómo se siente actualmente The Rose profesionalmente con esta gira, el regreso y todas las demás actividades que estáis haciendo?
Woosung: Nos sentimos muy bendecidos de poder viajar por todo el mundo, encontrarnos con nuestros fans y también hacer esta gira en la que podemos curarnos juntos. Estamos muy contentos de haber vuelto. Llevamos dos años fuera y creo que hemos vuelto más fuertes que nunca.
First of all. It's a pleasure to have The Rose here in Spain and to be able to interview you. How do The Rose currently feel professionally with this tour, comeback and all the other activities you are doing?
Woosung: We feel very blessed that we can travel arund the world, meet our fans and also do this tour where we can heal together. And we are just happy to be back, we have been gone for two years now, and coming back I think stronger than ever.
Esta es la tercera gira de The Rose por Europa. De este tiempo a ahora... ¿Qué diferencias creéis que hay entre el The Rose de esas giras y el actual The Rose?
Dojoon: Sentimos que es más natural. Aquella vez estábamos más emocionados, pero no sabíamos lo que estaba pasando. Eran muchas cosas sucediendo a la vez. Y ahora sentimos que es natural y tenemos más tranquilidad.
Woosung: Y también, somos mucho mayores ahora. Estamos cansados. Estamos más cansados que antes, porque entonces creo que teníamos más energía, simplemente hemos envejecido. Pero ahora, creo que nos cansamos más fácilmente.
This is The Rose’s third tour in Europe. From this time to now… What differences do you think there are between The Rose of those tours and the current The Rose?
Dojoon: We feel like it’s more natural. That time we were more excited, but we didn’t know whats happening. Like, it was so… A lot of things happening at once. And now we feel like it’s natural and we have more peace of mind.
Woosung: And also, we are much older now. We’re tired. We are more tired than before, because back then I think we had more energy, us just age. But now, I think we get tired more easily.
¿Qué esperáis del público español esta vez (con el cartel de entradas agotadas desde el inicio de la venta)? ¿Habéis preparado algo especial para el concierto de Barcelona?
Woosung: En realidad, no preparamos nada especial para cada ciudad. Intentamos conseguir el mismo espectáculo, porque sentimos que en todo el mundo queremos dar las mismas experiencias a la gente. Pero hay algunas cositas aquí y allá que a veces hacemos. Por ejemplo, creo que, para España, ya sabes, no sé si esto es correcto: "te quiero, será amor" es español, ¿verdad? Creo que podríamos cantarlo así, ya veremos. Estamos muy emocionados. Normalmente los fans españoles son muy pasionales y eso nos encanta.
What do you expect from the Spanish audience this time (with the sold out sign from the start of sale)? Have you prepared something special for the Barcelona show?
Woosung: You know, for each city, we don’t actually prepare anything special. We try to get the same show, because we feel like all around the world we want to gave the same experiences to people. But there are a little things here and there like sometimes we would do. Like, I think for Spain, you know, I don’t know if this is right: “te quiero, será amor” it is spanish, right? So I think we might sing it like that, we’ll see. We are very excited. Usually spanish fans are very pasionate, wich we love.
A pesar de que estamos muy ilusionados con vuestro concierto en España, es cierto que The Rose lleva ya mucho tiempo de gira. Habéis recorrido muchas ciudades y países en poco tiempo... ¿Podéis compartir alguna anécdota con nosotros? ¿Habéis aprendido o crecido como artistas o personas durante esta gira mundial?
Woosung: Estamos cansados, pero, al final del día, estamos muy contentos de hacer nuestros conciertos. Creo que lo hacemos porque podemos estar en el escenario con los fans, así que durante las actuaciones no estamos cansados. Sólo estamos cansados cuando viajamos.
Dojoon: Lo que hemos aprendido podría ser una historia continua en la que nos hacemos mucho más viejos. Nos cansamos con facilidad. Así que al menos dos veces tenemos una gripe leve. En cada gira. Cada continente. En comparación con 2018, tenemos un poco más de eso.
Despite the fact that we are very excited about your concert in Spain, the reality is that The Rose has been on tour for a long time now. You have traveled to many cities and countries in a short time... Can you share an anecdote with us? Did you learn or grow up as an artist or person during this world tour?
Woosung: You know, we are tired but at the end of the day, we are very happy to do our shows. I think we do it because we can be on stage with the fans, so during performances we are definitely not tired. We are just tired when we are traveling.
Dojoon: What we are learned it could be a continuous story where we just got much older. We get easily tired. So at least twice we get a mild flu. Every tour. Every continent. Compared to 2018, we get a bit more of those.
Hablemos de HEAL. Vuestro último trabajo se ha convertido en un imprescindible en nuestras listas de reproducción, vuestros mensajes, música y colores son únicos. ¿Cómo fue el proceso de creación? ¿Cuáles son los mensajes o aprendizajes más importantes detrás de vuestro último trabajo?
Woosung: El proceso de creación también fue muy bueno para nosotros. Fue un momento muy sanador. Nos fuimos al desierto, pasamos un tiempo allí escribiendo el álbum y terminándolo. Fue la primera vez en dos años que pasamos tiempo juntos, así que pudimos estar juntos, entendernos mejor y hablar de lo que habíamos pasado. Además, con el álbum, sentimos que la música siempre es curativa, y por eso empezamos a hacer música nosotros mismos, así que quisimos crear esta gira para que todo el mundo pueda compartir y experimentar la curación, sea lo que sea por lo que estén pasando, dondequiera que estén... Si pueden sentir una emoción, eso es lo que queremos con este álbum.
Dojoon: Sí, el álbum "HEAL", el nombre en sí, creo que nos viene muy bien en muchos sentidos. Estamos muy contentos de que el álbum haya salido así y de cómo reacciona con nuestro Black Roses. Y nos sentimos felices.
Let's talk about HEAL. Your latest work has become a must on our playlists, your messages, music and colors are unique. How was the creation process? What are the most important messages or learning behind your latest work?
Woosung: You know, the creation process was very good for us too. It was a very healing moment. We went to desert, we spend some time there writting the album and finishing it up. It was the first in two years that we are actually spend some time together, so we got to really hang out, understand each other better and what we went throught and talk about those things was very much healing. And also, with the album, we definitely feel like music is always healing, and that’s why we started music ourselfs, so we just wanted to create this tour for everybody to share and experience healing if they can, wherever they are going throught their life, wherever they are… If they could get an emotion alt, that’s all we want it with this album.
Dojoon: Yeah, the album “HEAL”, the name itselft, I think it suits us a lot in many ways. We really feel happy about the actual album that it came out like this and how it reacts with our Black Roses. And we feel happy.
Si tuvierais que elegir la canción que más os gusta cantar en directo... ¿Cuál sería y por qué? ¡Solo una!
Jaehyeong: Para mí, "See-saw". See-Saw se adapta a la gira Heal Together. He pasado un mal momento, pero durante esta gira, a través de esta gira, estoy mejor ahora, así que... cuando canto See-saw con mis miembros, nuestros fans cantan juntos. Es muy emocionante y me estoy curando, así que por eso elegí esta.
Hajoon: Para mí, "Cure". Porque cuando tocamos esta canción, siento que curamos a todo el mundo. Esa es la razón.
If you had to choose a song that you like to sing live the most... What would it be and why? Only one!
Jaehyeong: For me, “See-saw”. See-Saw suits the Heal Together tour. You know, I had a bad time, but during this tour, through this tour, I’m better now, so… when I sing See-saw with my members, our fans sing together. It is very like emotional and I’m getting heal, so that’s why I chose this one.
Hajoon: For me, “Cure”. Because when we play this song, I feel like we get heal all of the world. That’s the reason.
Y si vuestros fans tuvieran que responder a esta pregunta... ¿Cuál creéis que es la canción que más disfruta Black Rose durante el concierto?
Woosung: Definitivamente "YES". "YES" es una canción muy fácil de escuchar. Creo que, con las otras canciones, mucha gente canta y disfruta, pero con "YES" es más como "Vale, vamos a pasar el rato y a divertirnos juntos", ese tipo de ambiente. En cuanto al disfrute, creo que es la que más les gusta.
Jaehyeong: Para mí, creo que "Sour". En el último concierto, después de nuestra actuación, oímos a nuestros fans cantar "My heart's so sour without you". Todos nuestros fans cantan y eso es tan...
Dojoon: Sí, incluso después de todo el concierto y cuando salían del local, cantaban esa frase, y fue increíble.
And if your fans had to answer this question... What do you think is the song that Black Rose enjoy the most during the concert?
Woosung: Definitely “YES”. “YES” is a very easy song to listen to. Very easy melodies, easy lyrics, easy to can sing along too… I think for the other songs, definitely a lot of people sing along and they enjoy the songs, but for “YES” is more like “Ok, let’s just hang out and party together” that kind of vibe. Enjoying wise i think they might enjoy that one the most.
Jaehyeong: For me, i think “Sour”. The last show, after our show, we hear our fans sing “My heart’s so sour without you”. Every our fans sing and that's so...
Dojoon: Yeah, even after the whole entire show and when they are leaving the venue, they were singing along those lines, and it was amazing.
Sabemos que estáis inmersos en vuestra gira y que además acabáis de lanzar HEAL (vuestro último comeback). Pero... tenemos curiosidad. ¿Hay algún nuevo proyecto en marcha en 2023 para The Rose?
Woosung: Sí, ya lo hemos comentado un par de veces. Este año ya está lleno de eventos, un montón de festivales... Vamos a hacer toda una ronda por Sudamérica con Lollapalooza y después de eso estaremos en el proceso de creación del álbum. Y luego, en julio, haremos una ronda de festivales por Europa, en el Mad Cool, el Festival de Jazz... Muchos muchos festivales en camino. De hecho, viajaremos a Asia para hacer otro festival... Así que, sí, este año está reservado. Y luego, otro álbum seguro.
Dojoon: Mientras tanto, tenemos que trabajar en nuestro nuevo material. Así que va a ser un año muy ocupado.
We know that you are immersed in your tour and that you have also just released HEAL (your latest comeback). But... we're curious. Are there any new projects underway in 2023 for The Rose?
Woosung: Yeah, we mentioned this a couple of times. This year is already full with schedules, a lot of festivals… We’ll be doing a whole South America round with Lollapalooza and then after that we’ll be like album making process. And then, in July, we’ll be doing a whole Europe festival round, at the Mad Cool, the Jazz Festival… Many many festivals on the way. We’re actually traveling to Asia to do another festival… So, yeah, this year is booked. And then, another album for sure.
Dojoon: Meanwhile, we have to work on our new stuff. So it’s gonna be a busy year.
The Rose tiene una historia y una trayectoria increíbles, sois una inspiración para toda la industria y para vuestros fans pero... ¿hay algún objetivo o sueño que aún tengáis que alcanzar? ¿Cuál os gustaría cumplir durante esta gira o en 2023?
Dojoon: Este año, mientras actuamos, hacemos ronda de preguntas y respuestas a nuestros fans, y hay muchos comentarios y peticiones en los que quieren un lugar más grande. Así que nuestro objetivo es que un montón de Black Rose tengan esta oportunidad de sentir este objetivo más diverso y más grande.
Woosung: Y que vengan a los espectáculos también.
Dojoon: Sí, la oportunidad de tratar de ampliar lo más posible es nuestro objetivo. Uno de los objetivos.
Woosung: Y por comodidad también. Si tenemos más espacio, podrán disfrutar del concierto sin estar tan apretados. Creo que eso es lo más difícil... En mi opinión, las salas de 2.000 a 3.000 son las más estrechas. Así que vamos a dar un paso adelante con salas más grandes. Ese es nuestro primer objetivo.
The Rose has an amazing history and trajectory, you are such an inspiration to all the industry and to you fans but... are there any goals or dreams you have yet to achieve? Which one would you like to accomplish during this tour or in 2023?
Dojoon: This year, as we perform then we do a lot of Q&A with our fans, and there are a lot of comments and requests where they want it a bigger venue. So our aim is to let a lot of Black Rose to have this opportunity to feel this more diverse and bigger aim.
Woosung: And that come to the shows too.
Dojoon: Yes, the opportunity of trying to expand the most as posible is our goal. One of the goals.
Woosung: And for comfort as well. If we have more room, they can enjoy the concert without being so stuck. I think that was the hardest… 2.000 to like 3.000 venues are the most cramped in my opinion. So it’s definitely a gonna be a step forward for us giving these bigger venues. That’s our first goal.

Woosung: Hola, Black Roses. Nosotros somos "Las Rosas". Os queremos. ¡Y muy bien!
